I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for planning, implementation, coordination, management and clinical oversight of The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) oral health programs, including the outpatient Dental Clinic, inpatient services, Same Day Surgery and other operating room based services.
• Promotes and facilitates multi-disciplinary collaboration, cooperation and integration with other Medical Center programs and services with key physician leaders and service lines.
• Assures compliance with Medical Center policies and protocols.
• Participates in executive management forums and development training as required.
• Oversees dental clinical quality assurance.
• Oversees dental clinic providers in collaboration with Clinic Manager and Clinic Coordinator.

•Cultivates and maintains collaborative relationships with private and employed medical and QUMG staff and other hospital services to help assure a system of integrated interdisciplinary clinical care.
•Assures care coordination and clinical oversight of dental services for patient requiring multidisciplinary services.
•Actively participates in multidisciplinary forums as assigned.
•When applicable, helps assure response to dental resident clinical support and supervision needs and for facility and operational issues, as assigned.
•Practices clinical dentistry with preference for proficiency in the areas of hospital dentistry and clinical service delivery associated with the management and treatment of medically complex and provides clinical services to QMC Dental Clinic patients.
•Participates on dental on-call coverage for the Medical Center according to current protocols as assigned.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: walking.
• Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
• Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax, printer.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious agents is an occupational risk; therefore, standard safety regulations must be maintained to avoid contamination.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Graduate with a D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree from an American Dental Association CODA accredited school of dental medicine or dentistry.
• Graduate of a CODA accredited general practice residency program (GPR) or advanced education in general dentistry program (AEGD) with hospital dentistry training and experience equivalent to a GPR program preferred.
• Current unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Hawaii.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• During the period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the QMC medical staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction.
• Five (5) years clinical practice experience.
• Experience as an educator and mentor preferred.
• Experience working in a complex multi-disciplinary clinical setting preferred.
• Experience in health services administration and program planning preferred.
• Experience in leadership positions preferred.

Base salary (FTE 0.6 clinical & 0.4 admin) $205,109.00.00 year
