Job Summary: 
 
The Director, Product Management is responsible for responsible for driving data platform and data product initiatives from inception through execution.  
 
You will work closely with Sales, Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, and Data Science teams to develop and innovative and insightful data products. This includes gathering and prioritizing requirements for the product, defining the vision for the data product, and collaborating with other departments to ensure that the financial and consumer satisfaction goals are met. 
In addition, the Director of Product Management also ensures that the company’s overall strategy and goals are supported by those of the product; and that the product goals and strategy do not deviate from that of the business. 
 
Duties and responsibilities: 
  • Define and maintain a long-term data product roadmap that aligns with business objectives and vision.
  • Manage and direct all resources related to Product Management including but not limited to Product Ownership, Business Analysis, and User Experience.
  • Align stakeholders on priorities and relative investment in feature development.
  • Work with the Engineering team to define scope and understand build parameters.
  • Manage the process for how features are captured, defined, prioritized, and scheduled.
  • Assist in the management of customer expectations and communication around feature plans.
  • Stay informed on Payscale's competitive landscape, partnership opportunities, and other product threats.
  • Work with vendors and partners to improve the Payscale product offering.
  • Assist in packaging articulation and strategies for Payscale's platform and products.
  • Assist in holding the engineering team accountable for scope, goals, and timelines.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Company from time to time. 
Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills Required: 
 
Education: 
  • A MS/BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field 
Experience: 
  • 10+ years’ experience in a strategic Product Management/Product Owner role
  • 10+ years of sr. product management experience, with the proven ability to remain objective given competing priorities
  • 7+ years of sr. product management experience with proven track records in building enterprise-grade data products
  • Experience building and managing product roadmaps
  • Experience with Agile and/or Lean processes at the Product and Development level 
Key Competencies and Skills: 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences 
  • An understanding of technology used in data platforms and also data analytics.
  • Detail-oriented personality complimented by strong analytical skills.
  • Above excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Experience managing and/or leading a team
  • Ability to problem solve and present solutions
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working across multiple business units to achieve results
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, innovative, and rapidly evolving industry and business organization
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle, including Agile development strategies
  • Solid technical background with an understanding of software development and web technologies
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams with a wide range of skills and objectives
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills must be able to build trust as well as internal and external relationships.

Compensation 

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $165,400 - $248,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus of 20%. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
