The Job at a Glance
As the Safety Manager, internally known as Keeps People Safe, under limited supervision will direct the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive environmental and safety programs, policies, and procedures for the Distribution Center. Provide the leadership, direction and support necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and standards. You will have the ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.
A Typical Day
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with all occupational health and safety legislation.
- Promote and enforce safe lifting practices by ensuring proper ergonomics training, monitoring compliance, and implementing preventative measures to reduce musculoskeletal injuries.
- Conduct safety inspections to identify potential hazards or risks, prepare detailed reports of findings and recommend corrective and preventive measures. Follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Lead team member engagement in safety initiatives, emergency response and first-aid efforts for incidents involving fire, severe weather, hazardous materials, occupational injuries.
- Develop, maintain and track cross-functional countermeasure items and preventative measures resulting from incident investigations and Gemba team findings to help drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor and collaborate with HR on workers’ compensation claims, serve as the primary contact for third-party claims administrator, focusing on early return-to-work strategies.
- Support organizational learning by helping build and implement systems for occupational health and safety education, including incident prevention programs.
- Maintain and update the safety training records and report on any deficiencies or gaps in training programs and recommend improvements.
- Implement and sustain Behavioral-Based Safety program to proactively identify and address unsafe behaviors through observation, coaching and positive reinforcement.
- Maintain safety KPI dashboard to track and report key metrics such as Injury Incident Rate, near-miss frequency and closing post-incident counter measures within goal of 30 days. Provide monthly and quarterly updates to leadership and recommend corrective actions based on trends.
- Act as liaison with external regulatory agencies and follows-up on safety and security non-conformance items ensuring satisfactory compliance to ensure timely and satisfactory compliance.
To Land This Opportunity
- You have a degree in Environmental Health and Safety and/or 3-5 years’ or more safety role experience in a fulfillment center or manufacturing environment

- You’re a safety standards nerd – You use knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Hazmat, shipping of hazardous materials and other applicable industry environmental, health and safety standards
- You thrive in an environment dealing with technology such as safety apps, tablets, and you have previous experience monitoring security camera systems
- You have proven track record demonstrating the ability to effectively influence others, you’re a team player and self-starter
- You’re an all-star communicator and are fluent in English (both written and verbal)
- You possess abilities to be able to move around for long periods of time, and lift up to 40 pounds unassisted
About Your Future Team

The salary range for this role is $93,738.97 – $126,823.32 annually which is based on including but not limited to qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Parts Town is a pay for performance-company. In addition to base pay, some roles offer a profit-sharing program, and an annual bonus depending on the role. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) with match, employee assistance programs, paid time off, paid sick time off, paid holidays, paid parental leave, and professional development opportunities.
