Description
Coordinates clinical and non-clinical Student Placements throughout the Palomar Health district. Collaborates with department leaders, physicians, and other members of the organization to ensure a hassle-free placement experience. Provides exceptional communication as it relates to student placement criteria and guidelines on the requirements each of the various placement programs. Initiates and maintains educational affiliation agreements, student health and background requirements, and all other clearance documentation following Palomar Health policy and procedures. Serves as a member of the San Diego Nursing and Allied Health Services Education Consortium (SDNAC) to facilitate student placements. Acts as a liaison to academic institutions and the community as appropriate.

Maintains a strong work ethic and is able to accomplish assignments with minimal supervision, utilizing critical thinking, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem solving. Uses resources thoughtfully and appropriately follows chain of command to communicate issues and resolutions to direct supervisor as needed. Builds and maintains relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Specific duties to include:
1) Facilitate all student placement functions within Palomar Health including but not limited to Nursing, Allied Health, Professional and vocational training programs, and student observations.
2) Oversees all education affiliation agreements to ensure academic partnerships comply with onboarding requirements to ensure the safe placement of students. Supports the execution of new affiliations as approved by departmental leadership. Collaborates with legal to ensure timely execution of all agreements and maintains prompt follow up with academic partners to ensure two-way communication is maintained throughout all aspects of the contracting process.
3) Works with Student Development Specialist to manage the total capacity of student placements throughout the district. Proactively takes into consideration individual department needs/situations and accordingly adjusts student capacity to ensure the provision of safe, quality care is not hindered by student activity.
a. Non-patient facing departments may be requested to accept students for various reasons based on overall need and capacity of the healthcare system (ex: census, staffing, etc.)
4) Utilizes the San Diego Nursing and Allied Health Consortium (SDNAC) to facilitate the placement of all nursing and allied health students. Adheres to pre-determined placement timeframes to ensure Palomar Health follows all criteria and deadlines. Ensures students/faculty attends/completed required orientation prior to the start of clinical rotation.
5) Utilizes Student Placement database to track and document all placements not facilitated through the consortium. Maintains accurate records and timely correspondence with students, schools and department. Ensures only students who have cleared the onboarding requirements are permitted onsite and receive ID Badges. Periodically purges inactive students from HR/EHR systems.
6) Attends various academic institution and community events as appropriate.
7) Supports the operations of Palomar Health's Pathmaker Internship as needed.

Speaks and reads English at a level that is sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position. Must have knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., fax, photocopier) and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree and/or combination of education and experience
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience: 1-2 years of experience managing projects, public speaking and client/customer relations
1-2 years of experience in a healthcare-related or education-related field
Proficient in MS Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Experience: Experience with infographics and Adobe applications
