Responsible for submission of an accurate, complete vital records certificate (e.g. birth, death, fetal) at Palomar Medical Center or Pomerado Hospital. Job responsibilities include interviewing parent(s), educating parents regarding the birth registration process, applying for a social security card, completing and filing paternity acknowledgement forms, gathering information, entering accurate data into appropriate registry systems (e.g. State EDRS-Electronic Death Registry System), communicating with key stakeholders (e.g. physicians, physician office staff, mortuaries, parents and families), facilitating the timely completion of vital records certificates within timeframes desired or prescribed and in accordance with State regulations, processing amendments to certificates which are deemed to be the responsibility of the hospital, maintaining statistics including turn-around times for document completion, and entering physician deficiencies and documentation requests in the electronic health record system (e.g. Clarity) in an environment that protects and respects patient privacy. Must understand all laws and regulations regarding certificate completion, document custody and control, security of the computer registration system, and timely transmittal to the county and state. Participate in state-sponsored programs and studies. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

 

Job Requirements

 

Minimum Education: High School Diploma and/or combination of education and experience
Preferred Education: Secondary education and/or combination of education and experience with vocational training for medical terminology
Minimum Experience: 0 - 12 months related
Preferred Experience: 1+ years in an equivalent or related healthcare position; Bilingual
