Analog Design Engineer

PRODUCT DESIGN Irvine, California

Description

Responsible for the design and verification for both the schematic and layout of analog, mixed signal and digital circuit blocks in global shutter image sensors such as the analog to digital converter (ADC), pixel row decoder (pixel controller), ramp signal generator, analog static random access memory (ASRAM), phase-locked loop (PLL), operational amplifier, charge pump and voltage/current reference circuits.

Implement an innovative circuit that can be robust under process, voltage and temperature variations to reduce the shutterline artifact in image sensors.

Implement the ramp signal generator for the image sensor.

Conduct IP integration and system level post-layout evaluation.

Conduct transient, AC, DC, stability and noise simulations in Cadence Virtuoso, Analog Fast SPICE (AFS) and NanoSpice.

Using Cadence Virtuoso Layout Editor to construct the layout of certain circuit blocks.

Perform Python and Matlab programming to accelerate and automate the data processing (eg. create python scripts to automatically build the network of signal routing’s parasitic capacitances for AFS simulations).

Using SimVision and Ezwave to process the input/output simulation waveforms.

Analyze and debug the circuit blocks and bring novel ideas to make the circuit more robust under process, voltage and temperature variations.

Conduct comparison study between different image sensors and summarize the idea of improving the performance of certain circuit blocks in new products.

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related fields with course work in Analog and Mixed-Signal IC design.

Required skills/knowledge:

  • Analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit designs, including the design and layout of analog delay-locked loops (DLL), charge pumps, class AB voltage followers, voltage-controlled delay lines and phase frequency detectors.
  • Circuit design tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and Cadence Virtuoso Layout Editor.
  • Signal frequency counters.
