Who We Are:
Yachad, a division of The Orthodox Union, the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish organization‚ supports individuals with intellectual, developmental, and learning disabilities. Yachad helps these individuals participate more fully in Jewish life and the broader society by providing educational, employment, and relationship opportunities.

The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the U.S., founded in 1898. The OU supports a vast network of synagogues, youth programs, advocacy efforts, services for individuals with disabilities, and international initiatives. It also operates the leading kosher certification service, recognized globally by the  symbol on numerous kosher food products.

 

Position Summary:

The Program Aide provides support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities during programs. Facilitate group activities and supervise transportation to and from the program. Maintain effective communication with supervisors, parents, and the community liaison to support a positive and successful program experience.

These part-time positions are available on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 5-8 pm; Wednesday from 10 am- 3:30 pm; Monday and Wednesday from 2:00-6:00 pm; Sundays from 1:00-4:00 pm and 4:00-6:00 pm.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Working with individuals to facilitate engagement during programs
  • Implementing group activities
  • Supervising program transportation of individuals to/from the program in the morning and afternoon
  • Communicating with supervisor as well as parents & community liaison
  • Foster positive relationships between individuals served and community
  • Ensures safety of participants during programs
  • Encourages independence

 

Requirements:

  • A desire to work with adults with disabilities
  • Ability to provide positive motivation to others
  • Must be caring, dedicated, responsible, and patient
  • Willingness to take public transportation
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including walking for periods of time
  • HS diploma, GED, or equivalent

 

Salary:

The salary for this position is between $20- $25 an hour, commensurate with experience.
