The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.
Position Summary:
Jewish Union Foundation is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Full-Time Driver for our Day Habilitation Program. The candidate will be responsible for providing transportation services in the morning and afternoon, ensuring the safe and timely arrival of program participants to and from designated locations. Additionally, the driver will play a crucial role in assisting with various driving needs throughout the day, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, completing logs and documentation, and reporting any maintenance requirements. Part-time positions are available as well. Positions are available in Brooklyn and Long Island.
Responsibilities Include:
- Safely and punctually transport program participants to and from designated locations.
- Adhere to all traffic regulations and ensure the safety and well-being of passengers during transit.
- Assist individuals with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed.
- Provide support with various driving needs throughout the day. Including but not limited to errands, appointments, and other program-related activities.
- Foster a positive and respectful environment for participants during transportation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs and documentation related to transportation activities
- Report any incidents, accidents, or unusual occurrences promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Identify and report vehicle maintenance needs to ensure the fleet's safe and reliable operation.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections to ensure they meet safety standards.
- Report and address minor maintenance issues promptly and coordinate with the maintenance team for more extensive repairs.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the vans, both interior and exterior.
- Communicate effectively with program staff and participants to ensure a smooth and coordinated transportation experience.
- Collaborate with team members to address any participant-specific needs or concerns.
Qualifications Requirements:
- Valid clean Driver’s License
- A safe driving record
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle physical demand of the job, including assisting individuals with mobility challenges
Salary & Benefits:
The salary range for this position (Full-time) is $35,000 - $40,000, commensurate with experience.
