Job Summary: Responsible for supervising the work activities of security officers to guard casino property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry, and safeguards all casino Team Members, guests and assets, and administers security procedures by performing any combination of following duties.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Makes recommendations to hire, terminate, promote, demote, transfer, provide training opportunities, recommends merit increases, evaluates performance, creates and adjusts performance standards create and/or delegate staff scheduling, invoke disciplinary action and provide for the fair and equitable treatment of all Team Members.
- Conducts oneself in a positive and professional manner, acting as a role model for all Team Members.
- Maintain knowledge of all current and upcoming promotions and events at Odawa Casino Resort.
- Greet all guests and Team Members in a friendly, open manner.
- Has contact with casino guests providing or receiving information or during confrontational situations.
- Uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or develops appropriate solutions to issues that may arise.
- Responsible for the security and safeguarding of Team Members, guests and casino assets.
- Safeguards casino assets by guarding doors, patrolling building, observing pull team, verifying slot fills and jackpots, and other observation of sensitive assets and procedures.
- Ensures casino property is protected from theft, illegal entry, vandalism, etc.
- Ensures that underage guests are not on casino gaming floor and stay in appropriate areas of casino.
- Ensures that security policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Patrols and checks, periodically, internal and outside perimeters of casino.
- Monitors and operates the Access management system to input new employee data and issue approved badges.
- Monitors access to secure areas of both OCR properties and assures proper process is followed.
- Monitors gaming activities for adherence to company policies.
- Notifies Slot Shift Manager, Director of Security, and other management of pertinent security activities.
- Implements Security Department policies and procedures established by Security Manager.
- Fills out shift reports and incident reports daily.
- Informs on-coming security shift of all incidents that occurred during previous shifts.
- Reviews all daily reports describing activities and incidents involving security personnel prior to their submission to the Director of Security.
- Responsible to schedule and recommend approved time off.
- Exhibits Leadership skills through continuous evaluation, guidance and encouragement of Team Members.
- Foster a culture of learning and development; support individual growth through continuous feedback to achieve personal and professional goals.
- Approves scheduled hours in timekeeping system.
- Attends all meetings as required.
- Completes all required training satisfactorily.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
- Works at other properties as needed.
- Performs all other duties assigned within the ‘scope of work.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and four (4) years security or related experience, and two (2) years of supervisory experience or training.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by our carrier.
- Must attend and successfully pass a use of force training curriculum within three (3) months of date of hire.
- Knowledge in gaming policies and procedures and casino operations preferred.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills, experience using Microsoft Office products or related software and ability to quickly learn specialized software programs.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must read, write and speak English fluently.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical.
- Local in-town and occasional out-of-town travel will be required.
- Must be flexible with shift and days off with ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, special events, etc., as needed.
- You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
- Exposure to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment.
- Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission, and be able to serve in the position under any other applicable law.
