Job Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers performing general routine preventative maintenance and repairs to Odawa Casino Resort premises, such as buildings, grounds, parking lots and equipment. This position upholds the quality standards for the Maintenance department, ensures all building systems are operating efficiently and safely, and ensures compliance with all company, safety, and department policies and procedures.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Conducts oneself in a positive and professional manner, acting as a role model for all Team Members.
  • Greets all guests and Team Members in a friendly, open manner.
  • Monitor and check all building systems to make sure they are operating efficiently and safely.
  • Uphold the quality standards for the department.
  • Assess and resolve any problems that arise; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or develops appropriate solutions to issues that may arise.
  • Stay up-to-date with technological advances in the field.
  • Communicate pertinent organizational information to appropriate team members, including department Manager and Director.
  • Maintain contact with required supporting departments to perform daily job assignments.
  • Maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Observe areas for safety and that all potential hazards are fixed.
  • Perform maintenance job duties along with Maintenance team.
  • Perform general routine maintenance of entire casino, hotel, administrative offices, and other buildings as necessary or instructed.
  • May perform a variety of grounds keeping tasks including scheduled lawn mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching, and fertilizing, tree and shrub pruning, repair and reseeding of damaged lawn areas renovating turf, mowing grass, irrigating plants, and snow removal.
  • Maintain knowledge of all current and upcoming promotions and events at Odawa Casino Resort.
  • Makes recommendations to hire, terminate, promote, demote, transfer, provide training opportunities, recommends merit increases, evaluates performance, creates and adjusts performance standards, provides for the fair and equitable treatment of all Team Members.
  • Supervise Maintenance team members and the repair and maintenance of the facilities and equipment.
  • Foster a culture of learning and development; support individual growth through continuous feedback to achieve personal and professional goals.
  • Exhibits Leadership skills through continuous evaluation, guidance and encouragement of Team Members.
  • Schedule staff meetings with team members as necessary.
  • Schedule Maintenance Team Members’ hours and assignments.
  • Stay current with team member files, paperwork, and attendance logs.
  • Adhere to regulatory, safety, departmental and company policies and procedures.
  • Attends all meetings as required.
  • Completes all required training satisfactorily.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Work at other properties as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: electrical, controls, plumbing, hydraulics, construction, masonry, cooling, refrigeration, heating or ventilation.
  • Must have one (1) year of supervisory experience related to medium sized facilities, or demonstrated ability to supervise or lead teams during employment with the enterprise.
  • Must be able to operate a variety of tools and equipment relative to this position.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License and be insurable through our insurance carrier. There will be occasional out-of-town and local in-town travel required as well as frequent traveling between buildings.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical as this position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, extend arms overhead, and carry weight up to eighty (80) pounds or more.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products or related software and ability to quickly learn specialized software programs.
  • Must be flexible with shifts and days off with the ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, special events, etc., as needed.
  • You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
  • Exposure to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission, and be able to serve in the position under any other applicable law.
