Job Summary: Under the direction of the Senior IT Manager, the AV Production/IT Technician serves as the primary point of contact for all AV production needs of Odawa Casino Resort. This position coordinates AV production activities; ensures AV production systems are maintained and kept current with industry technology; maintains an inventory of backup components and supplies; operates, maintains, programs, and troubleshoots advanced audio, video, and lighting equipment; and performs scheduled preventive maintenance and firmware/software upgrades.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Serve as the primary technical lead for all audio, video, lighting, projection, and production operations across Odawa Casino Resort, ensuring successful planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of events, conferences, concerts, promotions, and special productions.
  • Coordinate all aspects of event production, including pre-event planning, technical rider review, communication with artists, clients, conference organizers, outside production companies, and post-event follow-up activities.
  • Install, configure, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on professional audio, video, lighting, projection, media control, digital signage, paging, and related AV systems to ensure reliable operation and optimal performance.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, training, and support to AV Production Assistants and other team members, promoting operational excellence, safety, and professional standards.
  • Monitor, maintain, and manage production equipment inventory, including equipment security, storage, transportation, replacement components, and recommendations for upgrades, purchases, and vendor selection.
  • Research, evaluate, procure, and implement production equipment, hardware, software, and related technologies; obtain vendor quotations and provide technical recommendations to support organizational needs.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while interacting professionally with artists, vendors, guests, clients, and team members, serving as a positive representative of Odawa Casino Resort.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current and upcoming events, entertainment programs, promotions, and operational activities to effectively support production requirements.
  • Provide support for basic information technology functions, including the installation, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PCs, printers, and related technology equipment; assist with general IT projects as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information; attend required meetings and training; support operations at other enterprise locations as needed; and perform other duties within the scope and responsibility of the position.

 

Systems Access: AV control and management systems, digital signage systems, IT ticketing systems, network management tools appropriate to assigned job responsibilities, and Microsoft 365.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • An associate or technical degree in broadcast technology, electronics, computer networking, or a related field is preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the audio/visual or related industry is preferred, with at least two (2) years of hands-on live production experience required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently and possess basic math skills.
  • Professional Audio, Video, and Lighting Systems: Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with professional audio, video, and lighting systems, including microphones, speakers, mixers, cameras, recording and editing equipment, projection systems, lighting consoles, fixtures, and live event production technologies.
  • Live Event Production & AV Operations: Experience supporting live productions and events, including front-of-house (FOH) and monitor mixing, microphone selection and placement, video production, projection systems, lighting system operation, DMX addressing and programming, and technical event support.
  • AV Infrastructure, Networking & Signal Distribution: Knowledge of professional AV signal flow, cable wiring, routing, termination, and cable management; working knowledge of RF and wireless signal distribution, basic LAN and wireless networking, IP-based AV systems, low-voltage systems, and industry-standard technologies such as Midas, Yamaha, Shure, Crestron, Q-SYS, AV switchers, paging systems, digital signage, image storage platforms, and related equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of current Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work professionally and tactfully with internal and external guests.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, work effectively under pressure, work independently with general supervision, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License and be insurable through the company’s insurance carrier. Frequent travel between company facilities and occasional local and out-of-town travel may be required.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and remain on your feet for up to eight hours.
  • Must be available to work flexible schedules, including varying shifts and days off, overtime, weekends, holidays, and special events as business needs require.
  • Must adhere to all regulatory, safety, departmental, company, confidentiality, and internal training requirements.
  • May be required to successfully complete a skills assessment to demonstrate the minimum technical qualifications for the position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license in accordance with LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission requirements and be eligible to serve in the position under all other applicable laws and regulations.
