About the Department
The Event Development and Production Department develops and produces NYRR events from concept all the way through execution in alignment with NYRR’s mission. The TCS New York City Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half and the RBC Brooklyn Half are just a few of the 40+ adult events and 30+ Rising New York Road Runners youth events produced by the team each year. The team leads core elements of the operations including physical site management, timing and scoring operations, volunteer management, hospitality and special events, safety and security, management of our warehouse and all race collateral, city and state agency relationship management, and permitting.
About the Position
This position will report to the Head of Events and Athletes with Disabilities Operations, with the core responsibility of assisting and accommodating Athletes with Disabilities in all NYRR events, including the TCS New York City Marathon.
Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):
- Management of all administration and communication with athletes with disabilities.
- Assist in managing the needs and experience for the AWD athletes that register for NYRR weekly races. Specifically, with Guides/Support Runners and other resources and other resources.
- Develop and oversee the Para Athlete confirmation process, identifying opportunities to streamline data collection and ensure an efficient, systematic workflow. Establish a clear and effective communication process to support athletes and address their specific needs.
- Working with Event Managers and Area Leads with logistical and operational needs for registered AWD participants at weekly and other marque events.
- Planning and execution of specific efforts associated with AWD programming at the TCS NYC Marathon and other larger events, including: Staging, Transportation, Start and Finish Lines and Reunion areas.
- Strong collaboration with Diversity, Equity and Social Responsibility department.
- On-Going collaboration and relationships development with internal departments (Strategic Partnerships, Marketing, Strategy & Planning, IT and Finance) to ensure the entire organization is together on partner deliverables, brand messaging and runner communications, overall organizational strategy and budgets for NYRR event properties.
- Maintain open, consistent with NYRR’s core values, lines of communications with all appropriate, NYRR, partners and sponsor, staff and volunteers.
- Other duties and department projects as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of event project management experience, preferably in the sports and/or entertainment industries, including a strong logistical/operational and customer service.
Education & Certifications:
- College degrees preferred not required.
Skills and Attributes:
- Must have event site planning and management experience.
- Willingness to travel, work various weekends and extended hours outside in all elements as needed.
- Must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment; ability to manage part-time staff.

- Comfortable presenting to organizational senior management and external partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).

Other Requirements:
- All staff are required to work the NYC Half Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon, and the TCS NYC Marathon.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)
- Proficient in Spanish a plus.
Salary: 55K
