The Opportunity
We are a small, high-impact team within Nutanix building the Nutanix Database Service (NDB)—a Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platform that simplifies database operations at scale.
NDB provides a unified UI and REST APIs to manage both open-source and enterprise databases, enabling organizations to standardize their database estate while improving efficiency, agility, scalability, and cost optimization across the entire lifecycle—from provisioning and high availability to patching, scaling, upgrades, and backup/restore.
We are now entering the next phase of NDB’s evolution—expanding into in-memory databases, autonomous database management, and advanced access control (IAM/RBAC) capabilities.
If you are passionate about solving real customer problems, enjoy working in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment, and want to shape the future of DBaaS platforms, this is an excellent opportunity.
About the Team
We are a highly energetic, driven, and results-oriented team that thrives on solving complex challenges and delivering meaningful impact. Our culture is built on ownership, collaboration, and a relentless focus on outcomes. We move fast, learn continuously, and push boundaries to achieve excellence in everything we do. If you are passionate about making a difference, enjoy working in a dynamic environment, and are motivated by tangible results, you’ll feel right at home with us.
Your Role
As an MTS-4 engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building core platform capabilities, with significant ownership and technical influence.
You will:
Architect, design, and develop scalable, secure, and resilient components for a multi-hybrid cloud DBaaS platform
Develop a deep understanding of customer (developer and DBA) workflows and translate them into intuitive, high-impact solutions
Drive end-to-end feature ownership, from design through development, testing, and production readiness
Collaborate closely with other developers, QA, product management, and documentation teams to deliver high-quality releases
Contribute to technical design discussions, code reviews, and system evolution, ensuring long-term scalability and maintainability
Contribute to areas like autonomous database operations, orchestration, and IAM/RBAC (experience here is a strong plus)
Engage with customers and support when needed to solve production issues.
What You Will Bring
We are looking for engineers who are:
Ownership-driven with a strong bias for action.
Passionate about solving real customer problems, not just building features.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with evolving requirements
Strong collaborators who can influence and contribute across teams
Technical Qualifications
Strong experience in backend development and distributed systems
Hands-on experience with:
Microservices architecture
Kubernetes and cloud-native applications
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
REST API development (including OpenAPI specifications)
Workflow orchestration and automation
Database systems or DBaaS platforms
IAM / RBAC frameworks (highly desirable)
Proficiency in at least one programming language: Go, Java, or Python
Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
Proven ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, along with high-quality code reviews
Experience building scalable and reliable enterprise software systems
Experience & Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science
5+ years of experience in developing enterprise software
