Infant Mental Health Therapist
Northwest Center is looking for a Part-Time Infant Mental Health Therapist to join the team!
We would like to warmly welcome an experienced infant and early childhood mental health specialist to join our Early Supports Team. We are a dedicated, skilled, collaborative, and innovative multidisciplinary team of developmental therapists and educators serving a diverse caseload of children aged from birth to three.
As an Infant Mental Health Therapist, you will provide evaluative, therapeutic, and consultative services to children, birth to three years old, who have medical issues, developmental delays, trauma histories, or other family stressors. A successful candidate is passionate about the whole child and works cooperatively with staff, families, and community partners. Work with a dynamic, supportive team, making a difference in the lives of families and their young children.

Location: Seattle, WA
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5 PM (Part-time schedule 24-32 hours per week)
Wage: $32.69 - $48.00 per hour DOE + $2,000 hiring bonus!
*$500 to be paid out after 60 days of employment, and $1,500 to be paid out after 90 days of employment*

- Perform assessments and screenings for children and make appropriate recommendations to families and providers in tandem with primary concerns
- Make referrals to community resources and services as needed
- Design and implement individual treatment plans; prepare progress reports; review medical reports, and maintain accurate records of contact for each child
- Understand institutional, societal, and social inequities that may impact access and ongoing involvement in mental health services
- Committed to supporting and understanding culturally and linguistically diverse families
- Committed to understanding current systems and resources for families of children who have experienced a hospital stay and ability to create a variety of supports for parents/caregivers based on individual need
- Participate in reflective consultation
- Participate in projects and opportunities that advance Infant Mental Health knowledge and practice on the Early Support Team and with families (such as hosting workshops, participating on interdisciplinary teams, etc.)
- Provides information to co-workers regarding community events and resources that may be relevant to providers and families.
- Master’s degree or higher in Clinical Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or similar
- Licensed as a Social worker, Mental Health Counselor, or licensed in a similar field preferred. License-eligible candidates can be considered
- Experience working as a licensed or associate mental health practitioner with children and caregivers 0-6
- Clinical experience conducting therapy and parent-child dyad work in-home, virtual, and community settings
- Experience in Early Support preferred
- Eligible to apply for level 2 or 3 Infant Mental Health endorsement through WA-AIMH
- Ability to communicate clearly in English in oral and written form; strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual candidates (Spanish, Mandarin, or Somali) preferred
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development and early childhood mental health ages birth through six
- Thorough understanding of trauma-informed practices for caregivers and children birth to three and the importance of cross-systems collaboration
- Demonstrated knowledge of disabilities, early support services, and special education
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to a variety of environments and people
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, reflective capacity, and ability to collaborate well
- Demonstrated ability to work with persons from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
- Knowledge of the child welfare system and/or family transition from the hospital setting to the home setting preferred
- Experience, or interest, in running parent/caregiver support groups and parent/caregiver education groups
