Position Summary:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for scientific exchange and education around NeoGenomics’ products to academic and community oncologists (occasionally pathology), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) as well as internal teams. The MSL seeks opportunities to develop and expand a network of KOLs through client-facing interactions to establish and maintain medical and scientific relationships, drive publications and presentations. The MSL position is responsible for working adjacently with their designated NeoGenomics’ field based clinical sales team to provide additional scientific and medical support. They will help to educate physicians on NeoGenomics’ assay offerings and relevant scientific data either in person or via virtual presentations. The Medical Science Liaison will work cross functionally to help with scientific training needs throughout the organization. Candidates must be field based, have excellent scientific communication skills and a strong background in oncology and genomic testing.
Core Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with academic and community physicians, KOLs, research leaders, other healthcare providers and foundations.
- Facilitate knowledge and education of relevant medical and scientific content (tumor boards, advisory boards, symposia), and NeoGenomics’ products to academic and community oncologists (occasionally pathologists) in the field as well as internal team departments.
- Develop strong client engagement through phone conferences, webinars, speaker engagements, continuing medical education and site visits including regional travel and a strong presence at all major conferences and trade shows.
- Provide updates on new/relevant scientific publications, market intelligence, and medical/scientific knowledge.
- Participate in call center coverage for physician report/assay inquiries.
- Present in person or virtually within assigned field territory/tumor boards. Collaborate and engage with various internal departments including sales, marketing, client services, accessioning, billing, legal, and managed care.
- Participate in medical updates, scientific presentations, journal clubs, teleconferences and meetings as a primary clinical resource.
- Support marketing in the development of training materials for other MSLs and clinical sales team members as needed.
- Proactively participate in territory objectives to help retain NGS (next-generation sequencing) and MRD (minimal residual disease) business and capture new business.
- Adhere to NeoGenomics Laboratories core values, safety, compliance, and company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education and Qualifications:
- Advanced scientific or medical degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, PA, GC, hematopathology) required
- 5+ years of MSL experience required
- Understanding of oncology, biomarkers, guidelines and molecular testing
- Laboratory NGS / MRD workflow knowledge
- Ability to communicate/present on scientific topics and concepts
- Ability to educate and train healthcare providers and internal employees
- Self-starter who is motivated to study topics outside of current knowledge base
- Scientific and technical experience in the field of oncology and NGS and MRD
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the development and use of molecular diagnostics for oncology
- Ability to work with different personality types
- Comfortable asking questions to understand the physician’s needs
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and comfortable presenting data
- Organized, self-driven and passionate team player who wants to make a difference, both to the company and to patients
Travel: 50% Overnight travel may be required.

Pay Range (will vary based on location & experience) $157,312 – $271,364
In all instances, the salary paid will satisfy minimum salary laws.
