Job Summary
The Opex Lead shall lead and manage the integrity of manufacturing data with responsibilities for
safety, and people management underpinned by a continuous drive to make improvements in
departmental operations and related services. This position serves as a strategic leader, coach, and
driver of MCC Tanzania’s strategic initiatives in operations. To ensure optimum utilisation of plant
equipment through effective data interpretation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Safety
•

The OPEX lead shall serve as the site safety champion.
Champion all aspects safety within the department. Instill a sense of self responsibility for safety
among employees.

Exhibit a safety-first attitude in all that is done, ensure a healthy and safe environment.
Assure the safety of the employees and the safe use of equipment, including housekeeping and
environmental compliance.
•
Personally, comply and ensure employee compliance with all workplace and product safety
standards and procedures.
Quality
•
Optimize the production process to ensure that quality is built-in, not inspected in. Quality levels
must meet customer requirements. Support quality initiatives and corrective actions to drive a
culture that supports our Quality Statement and helps employees learn and improve.
Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC including but not limited to
handling procedures, paperwork requirements, etc. Compliance with all data integrity, product
safety, and all standards required.

Operations

Support the goals of the plant by improving productivity through data analysis
Ensure manufacturing data integrity by monitoring input data reports and assemble in SAGE
Utilize captured data for production performance analysis in order to minimize machine down time
and increase availability.
•
Coordinates the development and implementation of written best practices documentation and
standard operating procedures (SOPs) in alignment with training and educational objectives
Establish, monitor, and achieve departmental operating key performance indicators
Establish and monitor annual goals and objectives for the department and reporting monthly
performance against agreed targets.

Understands the production process flow and participates in ensuring that GMP are implemented
and sustained in the process

Clearly communicate goals and drive accountability throughout the department.
Drive cost saving initiatives via VSM
Instill a customer-centered culture within the department’s team. Support efforts to achieve
excellent in equipment run ability.

Contribute to company cross- functional teams, to achieve the overall effectiveness of customer
relationships.
Manage the capacity and capability of the department by making informed decision that optimize
profitability and lead time expectations.
Develop and continually improve technical knowledge of processes to continually improve and
problem solve.
Develop and manage Monthly departmental reports demonstrating continuous improvements.

Build, develop and manage a high performing team to instill ownership of maintenance objectives
through training and performance assessments and talent management.
Lead the team to be capable of carrying out the short and long-term strategies of the plant.
Manage self and departmental leave plans

Drive all CI projects and initiatives in the plant
Utilize Lean tools inclusive of Kaizen, 5S and Gemba to drive improvements in operations.

Experience/Skills Required
•

•
Degree in Industrial, ElectricalorMechanicalengineeringwithabiastoprinttechnology
2 to 5 years manufacturing experience
Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience preferred. Formal certification is an
advantage.
