Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Outpatient Clinics in Gresham, Beaverton, Portland & Milwaukie

 Salary Range: Starting $81.20/hour

Schedule: Part Time/Flexible 20hours/week  *eligible for benefits

  Morrison Child and Family Services is a non-profit organization providing culturally responsive, anti-oppressive mental health and substance use disorder treatment, support, and prevention services to children, youth, and families who are working through the effects of systemic racism, trauma, poverty, abuse, neglect, or other mental health needs. As one of the largest mental health and substance use recovery services serving 7,000 youth in Portland, Oregon and the state of Washington, our goal is to promote a vibrant culture of self-care, creativity, and overall resilience that contribute to the success of our youth and families. 

Program:Outpatient Services 
Morrison Child and Family Services delivers outpatient mental health services to children, ages 2 through 18. At the core of our work is a belief in the importance of acknowledging strengths and creating resilience in each child.  Our skilled therapists collaborate with each child and their support system to identify a treatment approach that addresses the child’s mental health symptoms and leads to improved functioning in all areas of the child’s life.  We strive to provide culturally responsive services and respect the values and unique perspectives of all our clients.

Morrison Child and Family Services is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner /APRN who is excited to join our team of committed professionals. Our youth and family-focused programs include outpatient mental health and substance use services; residential and day treatment programs; and prevention and mentoring programs.

The PMHNP works as a collaborative member of the clinical team and provides psychiatric assessment and medication management to the children and youth in our various programs. Additionally, the PMHNP provides consultation to clinical staff regarding diagnostic clarification, treatment options, and case formulation.

Position/Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential functions include the following duties and responsibilities, competencies, and other characteristics. The incumbent in this position is required to perform the following duties, which is representative to the level of work appropriate to this position.) 

  • PMHP agrees to perform all reasonable duties within the scope of practice for a licensed PMHNP in the State of Oregon in accordance with the State’s laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Adhere to accepted medical standards in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local statutes, rulings, regulations and requirements and the prevailing community standard of care in the Portland Metropolitan Services area.
  • Adhere to the credentialing and quality criteria that are adopted by Morrison.
  • Provides psychiatric evaluation and ongoing psychiatric treatment for clients.
  • Respond to requests for consultation to primary care providers in the community.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to clients, families, staff, and outside professionals in a service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving.
  • Fully utilize Morrison’s EHR and follow all documentation, billing, and review/approval procedures.
  • Collaborate with Clinic Managers, Clinic Supervisors, Program Managers, Division Directors and Medical Director in taking overall clinical responsibility for monitoring medical necessity and the clinical appropriateness of care.
  • Utilize CPT coding in the provision of direct psychiatric services in accordance with Morrison billing guidelines.
  • Prescribe clinically appropriate medications and conduct regular assessments of the therapeutic responses and side effects of medications to clients.
  • Provide ongoing education to clients, family members and team members on psychiatric illnesses and medications.
  • Provide urgent psychiatric services, as requested.

Experience/Education Requirements  

  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with certification from the Oregon Board of Nursing to prescribe.
  • 2 years of clinical experience with a community mental health clinic population is preferred but not essential.
  • 2 years of clinical experience with children and adolescents is highly preferred
