Position Summary:
The Engineering Test Technician supports the MMIC Engineering department’s design and test engineers with the assembly, testing and characterization of CATV products including Power Hybrid Amplifiers, Power MMIC Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, and various passive components such as Baluns, Transformers etc. Testing will be required both at the hybrid and MMIC level. This role will operate, calibrate and maintain all test equipment, including Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Spectrum Analyzers, RF Sources, Power Meters, and other associated equipment. The Engineering Test Technician is responsible for maintaining organization and high quality in assembly as well as test data.
 
Salary Range: $75,000 - $115,000 per year
 
Job Function:
  • Responsible for the test of CATV amplifiers using dedicated test solutions for extremely high performance, high dynamic range products.
  • Maintain a high level of accurate and full documentation for the projects and tasks worked on.
  • Utilize various software platforms for data collection.
  • Strive for timely completion of all development and production project assignments.
  • Prepare test reports and data summaries.
  • Responsible for all test equipment maintenance, calibration and laboratory upkeep and maintenance.
  • Test, tune and troubleshoot integrated assemblies when required.
  • Mark up test, tune and calibration procedures for new product development and review with manager. Assist in the transition to production departments.
  • Interface with production test members on occasions when cross-functional training is required.
  • Maintain a clean Engineering department assembly and laboratory bench space and support calibration schedules for bench equipment.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or international equivalent + 5 years of experience in RF Product Design/Test OR
  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering + 3 years of experience in RF Product Design/Test.
  • Coursework/Previous Test Experience in some the following areas:
    • Amplifier Circuits.
    • Filter/Network Analysis and Synthesis Techniques.
    • Electromagnetic Theory.
    • System Analysis.
    • Digital Communication and Modulation Techniques.
    • S-Parameter based Network Analysis.
  • Previous experience in microwave hardware test and measurement to at least 3 GHz.  Must be capable of understanding if measured results are correct and agree with theory or expectations.
  • Must have demonstrated basic VNA and Spectrum Analyzer experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability to assemble, tune, test and troubleshoot hardware in a laboratory environment a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability and desire to mentor junior technicians.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills in English.
