Position Summary:    
The Incoming & Final Inspection Team Leader is responsible for the supervision and performance of both the incoming and final inspection team. In this position, the primary duty is to identify defective units that have been received from our suppliers or that have been assembled defectively in production to ensure that they are not shipped before being addressed. This position is also responsible for supporting the QA supervisor in the day-to-day functions and activities of the department.     
    
Job Function:    
  • Visually inspect the quality of work done by the inspectors of the dept, in accordance with drawings and applicable criteria using microscope/magnifying lamp.
  • Responsible for re-inspections according to disposition of rejected units.
  • Check quantity and sign drawings and/or QC sheets.
  • Sign in process inspection form and enter in database (where applicable) after each inspected run.
  • Ensure that the first sample inspection is performed.
  • Ensure that there is no damage or wrong components used.
  • Ensure that packaging of parts are in accordance with applicable procedures, drawings before passing units to the next station.
  • Identify cross-training needs.
  • Assist final inspection and In-coming inspection manager / QA in developing procedures and acceptance criteria’s.

Supervisory Responsibilities:     
  • Prevent the occurrence and reoccurrence of any problem by providing feedback to the production supervisors and team leads. (i.e. Damaged fixtures of anything relating to process improvement)
  • Notify the production supervisors and team leads when an operator needs training due to defects found.
  • Submit to MPE and managers any requests for ECN for corrections or improvements.
  • Notify the production supervisors to hold/ stop runs when the non-conformity threatens the performance of the run.  
  • Assigns and distributes work to the members.
  • Ability to train entry- level members on departmental activities.
Qualifications:    
  • Minimum High School Diploma, GED, or international equivalent.
  • 1 year of prior experience performing In-Process Inspection and In-Coming Inspection in production areas.
  • Basic computer skills including email and MS Office platform.
  • Able to use fixtures and/or calipers. 
  • Must be able to read assembly drawings and documentation.
  • Able to use a microscope or magnifying lamp to inspect and identify units that need to be reworked.
  • Distinguish colors in accordance with Ishihara color test for color blindness.
  • Must have a strong demonstrated ability to read and communicate in English orally and in writing– proficient in Spanish is also preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus and use a microscope.
