Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications.  With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications.  Position Summary:

 The Product Engineer I is responsible for supporting the development and release of high-frequency products from design completion through manufacturing and catalog release, while also providing strong program management support across multiple projects. This role combines technical product engineering responsibilities such as characterization, qualification, test planning, performance evaluation, production readiness support, and preparation of product and release documentation with project coordination activities including schedule tracking, monitoring technical deliverables, release status follow-up, and communication of risks and priorities. The Product Engineer I works closely with design, manufacturing, and project management teams to help ensure products meet technical, quality, cost, and manufacturability objectives while moving efficiently through qualification, first production run, documentation readiness, and deployment to market.

 

Salary Range: $105,000 - $120,000

Job Function:

 

  • Work alongside the design engineering team to support the design of amplifiers, multi-function modules, and passive devices operating over frequencies ranging from DC to 110 GHz for catalog and customer special requirements
  • Assist in the efficient and cost-effective transition of design prototypes from engineering to production
  • Generate preliminary documentation required for catalog release
  • Participate in final design review meetings for all catalog and customer specials, and in first production run readiness reviews; support training of production personnel
  • Inspect engineering assembly, identify any gaps or areas of opportunity and provide recommendations for correction, as well as documentation of specific methodology and update procedures and tools accordingly
  • Work alongside Project Management team to track technical developments according to established schedules and cost metrics
  • Collaborate with various company departments and stakeholders on preferred methodologies
  • Support and participate with engineering team through ISO audits and Management Review
  • Work independently or in conjunction with a product design engineer on product development projects and with all associated departments involved in product design, characterization, qualification, and the release to production.
  • Assist Design Engineers with the planning of new Product Development projects including driving the company’s Product Generation Process requirements for each new development.
  • Document the status of the work effort relative to the plan using various project tracking tools.
  • Report project status to the relevant stakeholders and company leadership, and escalate projected challenges and shortfalls in a timely manner to affect the appropriate corrections.
  • Close projects in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree + 4 years of experience in RF Product Design/Test, or related field OR
  • Master's Degree + 2 years of experience in RF Product Design/Test, or related field

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

 

  • Experience or coursework in the microwave and millimeter-wave hardware design, including electrical, mechanical, thermal and test, with a demonstrated ability to understand if measured results are correct and agree with the theory
  • Demonstrated ability (hands-on) to assemble, tune, test and troubleshoot hardware in a laboratory environment
  • Basic understanding of surface mount and microelectronic chip-and-wire manufacturing methods and techniques, including soldering, wedge bonding, silver epoxy application, expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity of materials, plating, hard and soft substrate materials, printed circuit board manufacturing methods, and techniques.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
