Salary Range: $103,000 - $120,000 per year

Position Summary:
The Sr. Manufacturing Process Engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product development requirements. This position is also responsible for identifying and addressing the technology and process gaps.
Job Function:
  • Works closely with design and manufacturing teams to develop and implement strategies to support improvements, cost reduction and volume requirement during the Product’s Lifetime. 
  • Supports New Product Introduction (NPI) with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) inputs and facilitates product transition from prototype through qualification to production release.
  • Performs PFMEA on new processes to ensure they are efficient, predictable, cost-effective, and meet the required quality and reliability levels. 
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment engineering.  Develops qualification plan, documentation, and monitoring of pilot runs. 
  • Creates product specific documentation in support of the assembly processes for new products.
  • Identifies, qualifies, and manages external contract manufactures to fill the gap in process technology and volume requirements.
  • Manages and qualifies process transfers to other Mini-Circuits facilities as well as external partners.
  • Analyses assembly flow and throughput for various processes and initiates Equipment acquisition/development/modification to improve quality, reduce cost and to increase production capacity.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing control methods, establishing process capability controls, and monitoring the processes on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops and executes new process qualification plan, releases new processes to production by creating all the required documentation and qualification reports.
  • Resolve issues at the root cause level and work to implement them on all similar products and processes.
  • Generates and reviews ECOs for assembly related documentation.
  • High level participation in daily production activities, effective problem solving, provides guidance on rework and disposition.
  • Develop, implement, and take ownership of process control methodologies.
  • Provide equipment maintenance and repair support as required.
  • Evaluate and select various engineered materials.
  • Contributes to team effort by participation in department and companywide initiatives.
  • Facilitate the implementation of continuous improvement events.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or similar area of study. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related areas.
  • Experience with the process of assembling PCB’s, Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components, boards, and tools for assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of SMT Paste Printer, Pick & Place equipment, dispensing, convection reflow ovens, vacuum reflow ovens (Void free soldering), X-Ray (2D & 3D) and PCB depanelization.
  • Experience mentoring junior to mid-level manufacturing process engineers and/or technicians.
  • Deep understanding of bare board fabrication specifications.
  • Experience in the inspection requirements per IPC 610 A Class III and SMT DFM.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the use of the department database programs, such as AS400, Arena, Etc. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic international team environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and communicate project status and issues clearly to all those involved. 
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time results and be accountable.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing problem-solving methods.
  • Understanding of product development and comfortable with presenting technical information.
  • Working knowledge of Auto CAD and Solid Works.
  • Ability to apply SPC, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing preferred.
