Position Summary:
The Engineering Project Manager II is responsible for managing (planning, scheduling, resourcing, monitoring, and reporting) product development projects and concepts through production/catalog release. The Engineering Project Manager II is expected to oversee multiple projects.
 
Salary Range: $88,000 - $132,000 per year
 
Job Function:
  • Work independently or in conjunction with a product design engineer on product development projects, and with all associated departments involved in product design, characterization, qualification, and the release to production and / or the release to website.
    • Work with the department managers of the various functional departments to assign resources to the project to successfully achieve the project objectives.
    • Partner with Purchasing team to focus on timely and adequate supply of materials for Engineering and Manufacturing Assembly to support deliverables.
  • Accurately define the projects’ purpose, scope, and objectives (performance, budget, cost, timeline, ROI assessment, the project budget, project deliverables, key milestones, and project resource requirements
  • Work directly with the Director of Product Line Engineering – CATV MMIC to generate and present business cases for new products under consideration.
  • Assist Design Engineers with the planning of new Product Development projects (i.e. the assignment of milestones, schedules, budgets, product costs, deliverables, risks and mitigation plans, resources constraints)
  • Document the status of the work effort relative to the plan using various project tracking tools and working with the supporting Design Engineer, document characterization test plans; partner with appropriate stakeholders to document product development qualification plans.
  • Prepare reports and updates on a weekly basis to the manager and when required to senior management. Reporting to include
    • Escalation of projected project shortfalls in a timely manner to affect the appropriate corrections.
    • Potential project shortfalls and recommended actions to mitigate.
  • Responsible for the attainment of the project objectives including the review of project deliverables for coverage and quality.
  • Work with the Engineering Test Department manager to assign characterization test resources and qualification resources.
  • Developing the catalog (website) datasheets and marketing sheets.
  • Close projects in accordance with established Procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering + 3 years of experience in a related field, OR
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering + 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in the use of Project Management, ERP and PLM tools (JIRA, SmartSheet and/or Arena desirable).
  • Strong research, analytical and presentation skills,
  • Must have experience using Excel for database management (sorting, filtering, processing, categorizing, graphing skills are essential).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time results and be accountable.
  • Detail oriented and extremely well organized.
