Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. Position Summary:
To directly supervise test engineers & support staff, evaluate, monitor, perform and improve all electrical engineering test activities in the Engineering Production Test Department, according to ISO documented procedures. Hands-on responsibility to personally perform complex electrical tests of RF components and prepare test reports as needed.
Salary Range: $145,000-175,000
Job Function:
- Review and approve all engineering and production sample data.
- Prepare and review for accuracy, test data for internal/external company website.
- Distribute and oversee completion of test jobs/projects from the various Business Units, Applications & Failure Analysis Engineering, Incoming Inspection, and other internal functions.
- Prepare & approve production test specs and block diagrams for manual & automatic testing.
- Coordinate calibration and maintenance of Engineering Department’s test equipment.
- Prepare and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) via the company standard Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), according to ISO procedures.
- Oversee the design, building & completion of prototype test fixtures from the Machine Automation Engineering (MAED) group for manual and automatic testing.
- Work with Test Engineers to design test fixtures, set-ups, test methods and specs for HTOL life test burn-in.
- Review and/or approve or create/status open tickets in JIRA for projects pertaining to key Engineering Test activities.
- Work with international daughter companies on resolution of test issues (test specs, test methods, etc.).
- Identify manpower staffing and special facility or other support requirements to enable efficiency of projects and department output.
- Authority given to:
- Access internal ERP tool & documentation dept.
- Review & approve production test spec ECO’s.
- Review & approve production sample data
- Review & approve the purchase of new test equipment & accessories, according to the purchasing procedures.
- Review & approve block diagrams for test set-ups.
- Review & approve production and robotic test data.
- Review & approve or deny planned PTO requests by department members.
- Plan workflow to meet daily output when department has manpower shortage.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are enforced.
- Hands-on Test Responsibilities as Needed
- Test RF & Microwave components electrically in accordance with production, catalog and/or customer specifications using state of the art test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers and Noise Figure Analyzers
- Prepare automatic and manual test set-ups using block diagrams & company procedures
- Record and Verify accuracy of test data
- Summarize test results with written reports
- Segregate non-conforming products as per production test specifications
- Identify mechanical defects by visually inspecting failed samples
- Complete test failure reports & record production run information on test history sheets
- Create block diagrams for test set ups
- Make correction to documents, update block diagrams and company procedures
- Recommend and/or provide solutions (if known) to test/equipment related problems
- Inspect all work in progress according to documented procedures
- Check equipment calibration status before use
- Keep test accessories, and tools in good operating condition
- Perform ESD checks
- Monitor productivity & job completion as per schedule
- Prepare ECO’s as assigned
- Assigned to complex test set-ups (requires research i.e. contacting various test and measurement manufacturers) and troubleshooting of same including verifying test set up, test methods based on input from Applications, Design, and Failure Analysis Engineers.
- Oversee test automatization and test software development efforts.
- Work closely with the Sr Principal Test Engineer to drive automation, and test efficiencies
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Generate and track key metrics to support data driven decisions.
- Train Engineering Test Department members and verify effectiveness.
- Improve existing training methods, as needed.
- Determine member training requirements.
- Develop the growth of members for promotional opportunities.
- Prepare member performance reviews and communicate results to members.
- In conjunction with HR, enforce disciplinary actions, hiring and promotions.
- Oversee the supervision of the Production Test Department.
- Promote member awareness and enforce the company’s Quality Policy, ISO 9000, AS 9100 & ISO 14000 requirements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE).
- Must be either a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (green card holder) due to ITAR compliance regulations.
- 7+ years related electrical testing experience of RF components
- 3+ years’ robotics testing experience a strong plus.
- 3+ years’ supervisory experience.
- Extensive experience using RF test equipment such as network & spectrum analyzers & signal generators.
- Must be able to create Flow Charts.
- Experience interpreting test data, preparing test reports & presenting results to Management
- Previous training in leadership skills.
- Must read, write and verbally communicate proficiently in English.
- Well-experienced in basic computer operations in Windows.
