Position Summary
The Senior Data Management Architect is responsible for assisting our sales team in architecting and quoting the appropriate backup and recovery software for Meridian’s customers. The qualified candidate will possess strong knowledge of Commvault and other data protection technologies. The engineer will be responsible for driving sales in our Data Management brand.
Duties and Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Opportunity Development
- Assist Account Managers with the development of qualified opportunities through remote and on-site customer meetings.
- Gather all of the relevant business and technical requirements to develop the appropriate solution.
- Develop solution proposals that define customer expectations, product, and service requirements that are necessary to achieve documented client objectives.
- Strategically collaborate with partners and manufacturers to drive opportunity.
- Work with sales teams and manufacturers on quoting appropriate solutions
- Assist with marketing efforts where appropriate
Post-Sales Delivery
- Follow the established service delivery process
- Work with the Post Sales team on appropriate project handoff and implementation of your architecture
- Continue the development of best practices and tools to ensure the successful delivery of backup and recovery solutions to our customers
- Work with the Project Management Office to schedule and close assigned engagements
- Troubleshoot issues and support customers as required and assigned by the Project Management Office
Risk Management
- Continue the development of best practices and tools for opportunity development and requirements gathering
- Contribute to weekly pipeline or solution assurance meetings to review pending proposals with the appropriate Services Manager to identify risk, perform gap analysis, and obtain approval on associated delivery services
- Participate in quarterly meetings with the Engineering team to discuss recent engagements, challenges, and opportunities, and incorporate improvements into the pre-sales process
Communications
- Responsible for clear and timely communication to multiple stakeholder groups on a frequent basis
- Be able to work multiple opportunities at one time and deliver architecture and proposals in a timely manner
Miscellaneous
- Improve processes to optimize the post-sales delivery process and increase value and efficiencies over time
- Participate with the Project Management Office in project post mortems and collaborate on recommendations reports in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
Qualifications and Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface at varying and appropriate levels of management
- Excellent customer relationship management skills
- Ability to break down technical concepts into business terms
- Well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and interruptions with minimal impact on productivity
- Demonstrate a high level of independent judgment and initiative; self-starter
- Flexible work schedule
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- Strong technical knowledge of Data Center environments
- Previous experience in a variety of Commvault installation projects
- Commvault Certified (Commvault Administration, Engineering, or Support a plus)
Education and Experience
- 5+ years’ experience with Backup Software (Preferably Commvault)
- 7+ years’ experience as an IT professional, working hands-on designing, configuring, or installing datacenter networking, server virtualization, or storage solutions with a demonstrated increase in responsibility over time.
- Strong familiarity with the following technologies:
- Storage (NetApp, HPE, EMC, Hitachi/HDS, Pure, IBM)
- Virtualization technologies (VMware, Microsoft, Nutanix)
- Applications (O365, SQL, SharePoint, Oracle)
- Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle)
- Strong technology consulting skills is preferred.
