Mercy Corps responsibilities

For the duration of this internship assignment the intern will receive:

  • $500/month stipend
  • Training and supervisory support
  • Workstation with computer, internet, and phone access
  • Access to Mercy Corps online tools
  • All other tools, materials and communication requirements necessary for project

Intern responsibilities

Intern will remain responsible for all costs associated with:

  • Travel to and from Mercy Corps HQ
  • Laptop for working remotely
  • Accommodation, travel and living expenses
  • All other costs associated with this internship

Mercy Corps Learning & Development team is creating a series of instructional videos for use in e-learning courses. The e-learning trainings will be put together using the Articulate 360 Storyline software and include a variety of different elements depending upon the topic. Elements will include self-shot videos, voice-over, slides, quizzes and open ended self-learning exercises.

The Video Editing & Content Creation Intern will receive admin access to the Schoox LMS and will assist and possibly lead the upload and testing of courses into the Schoox LMS. The volunteer will identify and create curriculums of courses and create certificates of completion. Courses will also be organized within the LMS by subject to facilitate the ability of global Mercy Corps team members to quickly find and access relevant material. The volunteer will also assist and possibly lead the filming and editing of video to be used in Articulate Storyline courses. The volunteer will be given access to Articulate Storyline 360 for the intended purpose of being able to integrate completed videos into elearning courses.


  • Gain an understanding of design processes and work flow in an agency setting
  • Learn the process of eLearning video creation and how to find and incorporate various media elements into elearning
  • The process should give the intern a working knowledge of humanitarian security in the field.
  • Gain experience in a multi-cultural work environment, coordinating and communicating with a global team across time zones and geographies, many of whom operate in complex, challenging environments


  • Gain an understanding of design processes and work flow in an agency setting
  • Create video for use in the creation of eLearning courses authored in Articulate Storyline 360
  • Build content in Articulate Storyline 360
  • Assist with the administration of the Mercy Corps LMS (Schoox LMS)
  • Upload content to the LMS and organize into curriculums
  • Test and document features in the LMS


  • A college or graduate degree (or one in progress) in Communications, Media, Design (or related field)
  • Command of Adobe Creative Suite and/or related photo and video editing platforms. Techsmith Camtasia may also be used for some video editing and captioning purposes.
  • Demonstrable skills – has a portfolio showcasing process, production and presentation
  • Preferably have experience in e-learning platforms (though not required)
  • Creative problem solver – able to design, develop and deliver
  • Compelling storytelling skills – able to deliver insights in a way that generates engagement
  • Attention to detail – able to manage and track requests and changes to projects
  • Interest in working in a multicultural environment, and with stakeholders in multiple geographies
  • Strong attention to maintaining quality and consistency in deliverables
  • Fluency in Arabic, Spanish, or French (not required)
