How does Vacation/Sick-time work?
Personal Time Off (PTO) is intended to provide an employee with time away from work for a well-balanced, healthy life. It is also intended to allow for paid time for unforeseen absences such as medical needs, funerals, bad weather, etc. For full-time employees, who are scheduled to work at least 36 hours per week, PTO accrues at the end of the month for each full month of service based on the months of service. For example: new employees will accrue eight (8) hours of PTO per month during the first 12 months of employment after their first full month of service.
Does this position allow for someone to work remotely?
Some of our position(s) are designed for individuals to have the ability to work in a hybrid environment. This means that an individual can work from home and the office. This is subject to change at any given time based on business need/direction.
Is there room for advancement?
We often post our positions internally and encourage employees to apply for other opportunities to allow people to grow in their careers. Our Maintenance Department has created a training program that allows for Diesel Technicians to grown and progress within their careers. Maverick promotes and encourages growth opportunities within our organization.
How long has Maverick been in business and how many employees are currently employed?
Maverick Transportation was established in 1980. We currently have around 2000 employees (1600 consist of Maverick Drivers and 400 are office and service area personnel).
When will my benefits go into effect?
Maverick has a competitive and top-notch benefits package. We feel it is important that our employees and their families have the coverage they need. We recently reduced our eligibility for benefits, allowing new employees to come on to our plan as soon as the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment!
How does Maverick help you plan for retirement?
Answer: Maverick will match 100% of your contributions up to 3% of your weekly pay, on a weekly basis, for each week that you contribute.
Technician FAQ's
Are you required to have your own tools?
Maverick offers an in-house tool program. It consists of basic tools and if you remain with Maverick for a minimum of two (2) years, then the tools are yours. If you have any additional questions, please talk with your recruiter to obtain more details.
What type of training does Maverick offer Technicians? Is this training recognized throughout the industry?
Our training modules include the Freightliner training along with many other instructor-led training courses for our truck and trailer components. Maverick allows each technician one (1) paid hour per week to complete training. Technicians also have the option to complete courses on their own time as well.
How do I get raises working as a technician in a Maverick shop?
Each employee’s pay is structured around the completion of the training modules and competency of the training on the shop floor.
