Description

This highly motivated Technical Sales Engineer with proven experience in B2B automotive field.  Preferred knowledge in plastic assemblies and/or automotive HVAC systems. Responsibilities will include managing RFQ responses, leading tech presentation materials and meetings, supporting our sales team,  and providing overall customer satisfaction.

The Technical Sales Engineer uses technical knowledge along with sales skills to provide advice and technical support for HVAC systems. . The TSE will engage existing and prospective customer engineers with design-ins and bids for existing and new products.  The main activity is to be engaged at all technical levels, electrical /mechanical design, components, engineering management, and program management, to obtain new opportunity design competitions for new production platforms.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensure a physical presence in customers’ and internal R&D facilities.

Play an active role in promoting our technologies, products, and Marelli’s value proposition for our customers. Handle cross functional discussion at customer level (discussions that can include R&D, product, market, commercial points), which means answering directly or bringing in necessary network function support.

Collect, understand, and discuss customers’ needs, constraints and wishes.

Engage in hunting and prospecting for new order intake opportunity, and engage the sales network for these opportunities.

Analyze and compile requirements and specifications to extract performance and functional criteria, and be a problem solver for customers’ issues.

Facilitate 3D and 2D models development balancing the customer requirements and internal performance standards.

Work in close link with the Marelli Sales team, the R&D development centers and with all concerned plants.

Lead technical Shows at OEM & tech shows, as well as manage and follow up on leads of OEM programs.

Prepare and present customer quotations, trainings, seminars, call reports, and special reports as directed.

Share market information working with other departments throughout the organization to ensure proper advanced engineering projects are pursued to lead the market.

Record customer information. 

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, + more than 4 years’ combined experience in engineering and sales at Tier 1

-or-

Bachelor’s Degree in Sales & Marketing Degree + more than 7 years’ combined experience in HVAC product development

  • Problem solving skills, technical understanding, product knowledge & product development skills, selling to customer needs, presentation skills, general programming skills, analysis and innovation skills.
  • Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications.
  • Have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.
  • Be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment tests, including any required drug test.
  • Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.
