Medical Associates Health Plans is hiring a Sales & Account Executive to join our insurance sales team in Dubuque, IA!
Where you will be working:
Medical Associates Clinic and Health Plans is a multi-specialty group practice combined with a growing health insurance company. Our 1,100 healthcare and health insurance professionals lead the way in providing quality healthcare and top-notch insurance products in Northeast Iowa, Southwest Wisconsin, and Northwest Illinois. This position is onsite and located at the Medical Associates Health Plans in Dubuque, Iowa.
The Position:
The Sales & Account Executive position will promote and sell health plan products to clients directly or through licensed agents and brokerage firms. Provide leadership and education to the health plan brokers, training agents in plan products. Education of new or existing members through presentations or written communication. Provide ongoing customer service and secure renewals of assigned large employer groups. This person should be passionate, friendly, determined, and outgoing.

Travel and Schedule: This position will require up to 20% travel with minimal overnight stays.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Sales:
- Build out a detailed sales plan, in collaboration with the MAHP sales team identifying target employer groups and brokers.
- Execute the plan, face-face in the market performing direct prospecting, working with independent health insurance brokers and consultants, and other key business and community leaders.
- Establish initial sales goals, track progress, and refine as new information is learned.
- Promptly and accurately document and track activity in Sales Force.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders, brokers, community leaders and target employer leadership.
- Respond to RFPs and related sales requests, positioning MAHP to win business.
- Collaborate with the MAHP Sales and UW teams to win business and ensure quotes are competitive.
- Participate in the implementation and onboarding of new groups until they can be effectively handed off as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to advance products and model in the market to win business and work with MAHP sales team to develop.
- Account Retention and Renewals:Meet or exceed renewal goals in cooperation with the MAHP sales and account mgmt. team. Determine when it is appropriate to hand off new groups or when it may make sense for the Sales Exec to maintain the relationship while working with the MAHP team behind the scenes to ensure the group is supported.
- Community Involvement:Represent MAHP through involvement in associations, nonprofits, and other community organizations and activities. Join or serve on at least two community organization/non-profit boards. Participate in at least a monthly community activity or function.
- Complete all other assigned projects and duties.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: 3-5 years of experience selling health insurance products or working in health insurance.
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelors/4-year degree. Iowa insurance license is required.
Insurance Knowledge:
- Experience and skills in marketing and sales techniques.
- Group managed care products including rating and funding, industry, and marketplace trends.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Verbal and written communication skills including motivating informal teams, developing and facilitating presentations, and building relationships with brokers and agents
- Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job
- Excellent and adaptable written and verbal communication styles
Other Skills:
- Negotiation and presentation skills to present to brokers and clients
- Analytical skills to develop competitive offerings
- Technical skills to maintain databases of prospects and sales activities (Salesforce)
- PC proficiency including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Physical Aspects:
Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction.
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Environmental Conditions:
