Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is a not-for-profit social service agency with more than 100 program sites throughout the state of Illinois. Our services include mental health and substance use treatment; services for returning citizens after incarceration; housing and services for older adults and individuals with ID/DD; and a variety of services for children including foster care and adoption.
LSSI is hiring a full-time Central Intake Coordinator. The Intake coordinator responds to all intake inquiries (in-person & telephonic) received and completes initial screening for new clients within the behavioral health service line. The intake coordinator schedules initial intake appointments with the appropriate programs. The Intake Coordinator is a hybrid position that works out of 4840 W Byron St. Chicago, IL 60641
Schedule:
Mondays & Thursdays 9am-7pm
Tuesdays & Wednesdays 10am-6pm
Saturday 9am-1pm

Essential Functions:
- Respond to incoming calls from potential clients seeking services.
- Refer clients that do not meet criteria for LSSI services to care coordination for evaluation and linkage to additional resources.
- Verify benefits and match insurance coverage to the appropriate service or provider.
- Maintain superior knowledge of LSSI programs and alternative community resources.
- Manage influx of new clients and program size, especially for inpatient programs.
- Proficient use of electronic health record and client tracking systems.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work or related human service field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Some experience in social services field preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish preferred.
- Team-oriented.
- Excellent communication, organization, presentation and pc/computer skills (including proficiency with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) along with other related software.
- There will be minimal driving required for this position.
- Copy of auto insurance and valid IL drivers’ license required.
