Reporting to the Operations Manager, the DC Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the planning & directing of all shift activities in the warehouse. In conjunction with the Manager, this role ensures that the shift is prepared for nightly operations. Responsible for supervising the receiving, storage and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service & cost objectives.
What you’ll do:
- Upholds and models the company-s values in all actions and behaviours
- Assist Manager in motivating & developing team members & by providing regular feedback & performance appraisals
- Ensures that team members understand & comply with company standards, policies & procedures
- Coaches, trains & disciplines team members to maintain the highest level of personal & team productivity by ensuring strong technical skills & on-going product knowledge
- Conducts team member 5 minute huddles
- Supervise checking and unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with a high level productivity
- Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all product is properly counted
- Hands on when required
- Assist in physical inventory
- Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are complete and free of damage
- Consistently demonstrates Customer Service and holds himself/herself and team members accountable for positive customer service relations
- Supports DC Manager in implementing all Distribution Centre initiatives
- Responsible to implement and train team members on all policies and procedures including, Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety, WHMIS, Food Safety, Loss Prevention, Human Resource Policies
- Ensures all team members adhere to food safety, Workplace Safety standards & proper sanitization & cleaning procedures
- Assist in maintaining Distribution Centre security
- Ensure the efficient & safe operation of material handling equipment
- Observes & supports Longo-s Safe Work guidelines & other safe work practices
- Role Models the importance of Health & Safety by always working safely, calls out & addresses any safety issues
- Recognizes risks which may pose a danger to Team Members & customers & resolve such issues
What we-re looking for:
- Completion of post secondary education and a minimum of 2 years of distribution experience
- A clean record of performance with no performance or conduct issues within the past two (2) years
- Proven leadership skills and/or leadership training
- Good understanding of DC, delivery and traffic operations within a distribution setting
- Appropriate knowledge of maintenance and care of equipment, materials and supplies
- Knowledge of Employment Standards, WHIMIS, Food Safety, Loss Prevention practices and temperature control
- Ability to coach and develop others
- Material handling equipment certification
