How you will contribute to LifeNet Health’s success:
As a Transplant Coordinator, you would provide input and facilitate the donor referral, clinical management and organ recovery processes in order to maximize the number of transplantable organs and tissues using knowledge of critical care principles such as hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and administration of critical care medications. Completes medical and legal documentation of the organ recovery process and communicates with hospital development to ensure effective donor follow-up. Makes appropriate decisions regarding the complexity of the case and escalates to a higher level if necessary.
What you’ll do:
- Clinical Assessment: Evaluates referrals for organ and tissue donor suitability based on LNH, OPTN/UNOS, AOPO and CDC guidelines/recommendations and other regulatory requirements. Ensures that donated organs are allocated in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with LNH and OPTN/UNOS policies. Ensures organs and tissue will be recovered to maximize utilization in accordance with LNH and OPTN/UNOS policies.
- Clinical Evaluation: Responsible for all aspects of donor evaluation and the physiologically management including review of medical and social history; assessment of hemodynamic stability and implementation of strategies to optimize organ function prior to recovery. The coordinator must be knowledgeable of the pathophysiological sequela of brain death. Identifies organ and tissue-specific and behavioral risk factors utilizing all available resources.
- Clinical Management: Preserves organs and tissue according to LNH and national standards to ensure maximum viability for transplantation. Ensures that the legal next-of-kin (NOK) is provided the option of organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and compassionate manner. Responsible for the complete logistical coordination of all cases between LifeNet Health and transplant centers providing effective communication and leadership with coworkers, physicians, and hospital staff throughout the donation process. Maintains a permanent record of the organ and tissue donation in accordance with accepted confidentiality standards. Complete the donor EMR record in a timely and accurate manner according to LNH Standard Operating Procedures.
- Training & Mentoring: Provides work direction, coaching, and mentoring in clinical competencies and serves as Preceptor for new staff. Role models advanced proactive professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
What you’ll bring (Minimum Requirements):
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Two (2) years critical care experience in either Medical, Surgical Trauma, Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Cardiac, Pediatric or ER
- Two (2) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Valid RN License – Active RN License and be in good standing with the issue state board of nursing. Must be maintained throughout tenure in position
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator Certification
- Four (4) years critical care experience in either Medical, Surgical Trauma, Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Cardiac, Pediatric or ER
- Four (4) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
These would be nice too (Knowledge Skills and Abilities):
- Psychological Skills: Ability to manage stressful situations involving complex clinical scenarios and family dynamics; experience in medical compliance and data sharing preferred
- Proficient in MS Office: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Suite. Knowledge of procedures and services related to grief/family counseling and or bereavement preferred
- Attention to Detail: Able to perform tasks thoroughly and with care; checks work to ensure high degree of accuracy/completeness and early/on-time delivery
- Business Acumen: Ability to work independently with in-depth working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and ability to communicate this to others
- Communication: Ability to effectively collaborative verbally and in writing; building relationships with all professionals at different levels within and outside the organization. Presentation experience speaking with various types of audiences preferred.
- Time Management & Multitasking: Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; able to prioritize multiple, competing time-sensitive projects and/or priorities and manage time/workload; ability to identify task/project interdependences and potential risks/pitfalls
- Critical Thinking: Ability to make decisions independently regarding medical management of organ donors, staff triage, logistical arrangements and organ allocation
- Logical Analysis: Requires thinking through and solving problems step by step; often as to look beyond the obvious solution to a problem
- Teamwork: Ability to be collaborative and work as part of a team to resolve issues, complete tasks and meet business needs.

Salary: $75,841 - $101,121/annually
The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location and the candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience. Actual compensation may be higher based on the successful candidate's knowledge and relevant experience.
This position is eligible for an annual bonus once eligibility criteria are met.
