Remote-first
Since March 2020, our Zoomers have worked remotely and reported an overall better work-life balance with more time for family and personal wellness.
At the end of 2021, LegalZoom made the official commitment to being a remote-first company. Remote-first means that there is no expectation that Zoomers come into an office for a fixed number of days outside of those employees identified as essential onsite workers. While we remain a remote-first culture, our local offices have evolved as collaboration spaces for Zoomers to meet and engage in person.
Overview
LegalZoom has helped millions of customers become business owners by enabling them to #makeitofficial with business formation solutions such as an LLC or Corporation. These small businesses look to LegalZoom when taking the next steps on their journey of running a business, such as handling their finances, doing taxes, and getting expert help from tax preparers, attorneys, and other experts.
The Experts team builds product experiences that allow customers to collaborate with their experts, and experts to provide services to them. We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer who is a self-starter and learns quickly. You will work across teams in the Experts domain, helping to establish patterns and architecture, and diving into hands-on coding as needed.
You will
- Work closely with other engineers, product managers, and designers to design, build, and maintain products and experiences for customers and experts.
- Design and improve our platform and components to help engineering teams build amazing solutions.
- Develop a deep understanding of the system, write technical designs, mentor team development, encourage good code.
- Drive the DevOps culture, enabled by automated testing and continuous integration.
- Communicate and collaborate with other teams and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the engineering organization’s identity, standards, guidelines, and best practices.
You Have
- You have 8+ years of hands-on technical experience in the areas of web development and application integration, with a preference for 3+ years working in the role of principal or staff engineer in a high-transaction, fast-paced, dynamic environment
- You write code that is elegant, efficient, and well tested.
- You have experience with Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, or other similar languages & frameworks.
- You have strong Typescript/Javascript fundamentals and experience with common front-end frameworks such as React.js.
- You love deeply understanding your customers so you can create experiences for them that are fast, reliable, engaging and solve for their needs.
- Occasional travel may be required as needed.
- Remote employees should confirm that the internet service available has adequate bandwidth to support all work processes.
LegalZoom is a remote-first company and the national range for this role is ($157,500 - $270,000). Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs. In addition, an annual bonus, incentive bonus and/or restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
