Senior Cloud Engineer – Technology Enterprise Services

We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team and be responsible for implementing and maintaining JCPenney’s cloud computing strategy. This includes planning and executing cloud adoption plans, cloud migration strategies, and cloud operating models. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deploy cloud infrastructure, platforms, and applications that meet business and technical requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring adherence to cloud architecture strategies, assisting with cost-benefit analyses, and maintaining the overall security, availability, and scalability of our cloud-based systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deploy cloud infrastructure, platforms, and applications
• Implement cloud architecture strategies based on business and technical requirements
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses to determine the most cost-effective cloud solutions
• Ensure the security, availability, and scalability of cloud-based systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cloud-based solutions
• Develop and maintain documentation related to cloud-based systems
• Implement required solutions and processes needed to manage cloud usage and cost
• Stay up to date with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

• Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
• Understanding of DevOps principles and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Skills in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager to automate provisioning and management of cloud resources
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, or Puppet) for consistent and repeatable environments
• Familiarity with networking, security, and compliance in cloud environments
• Demonstrated continuous learning and adaptability with cloud-based technologies
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
