Clinical Informatics Specialist (Full-Time)
Description
The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for helping The Iowa Clinic optimize our clinical
documentation workflows, aiming to simplify and regulate documentation across multiple clinical sites. This role works as a liaison between clinical operations, quality improvement, and information technology teams to drive and standardize documentation practices, enhance data integrity, and support regulatory reporting requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Workflow Optimization
- Assess, map, and analyze current clinical documentation workflows to identify inefficiencies
and gaps for process improvement. - Design, implement, and maintain standardized documentation templates and processes
across care settings. - Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure workflows align with evidence-based practices
and regulatory standards.

Quality Measure Management
- Maintain and monitor staff compliance with electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs)
specifications within the electronic health record (EHR) system. - Ensure accurate data capture and reporting for CMS and other regulatory programs.
- Partner with Quality and IT teams to validate measure performance and resolve data
discrepancies.

Clinical Informatics Support
- Act as a subject matter expert for clinical documentation standards and informatics best
practices. - Provide education and training to clinical staff on documentation workflows and quality
measure requirements. - Collaborate with EHR analysts and developers to configure and optimize system functionality.

Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze documentation and quality measure data to identify trends and improvement
opportunities. - Prepare and present reports and dashboards for leadership and quality committees.

Minimum Job Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Health Informatics, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure/ Certification: Active RN license in the State of Iowa preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years in clinical informatics, EHR optimization, or quality improvement. Demonstrated knowledge of eCQMs, CMS reporting requirements, and clinical
workflow design. Strong understanding of clinical documentation standards and
interoperability. Proficiency in EHR systems (Altera, Veradigm, Allscripts, Epic, or
similar). Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
