As a Summer Intern – Standards at GS1 US, you will gain immersive, hands-on experience with the global system of standards that powers modern supply chains. You will learn how unique identification systems, data carriers, and data sharing frameworks enable accuracy, automation, and traceability across industries.
 
 
This role offers a unique opportunity to learn by doing. You will participate in real-world initiatives such as Sunrise 2027 and Next Level Data Carriers (NLDC), support standards-related projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore how standards drive interoperability and innovation across the supply chain.
 
 
This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence in Ewing, NJ two days per week with a pay of $25/hr.
 
Who you are:
 
You are curious, analytical, and excited about how standards, data, and technology shape global commerce. You enjoy understanding complex systems and translating technical concepts into clear, practical insights.
 
You communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and are comfortable working across teams. You are organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in an environment where new technologies and industry needs are constantly evolving.
 
You have completed at least your second year of a collegiate program in supply chain, logistics, engineering, business, information systems, or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, or collaboration platforms like Miro is helpful but not required.
 
What you will do:
 
In short, you will support GS1 US’s standards initiatives by contributing to research, documentation, testing, and industry engagement activities. Your work will help demonstrate how GS1 Standards enable transparency, interoperability, and resilience across supply chains.
Here are a few more details about the role (other duties may be assigned):
 
Support Standards and Industry Initiatives

Assist with Sunrise 2027 and NLDC program activities by researching applications of unique identification and next-generation data carriers across industries, reviewing use cases, and observing pilot efforts.
 
Contribute to Supply Chain Visibility Projects

Participate in EPCIS and event data standards initiatives by mapping real-world scenarios, documenting data flows, and supporting traceability and transparency use cases.
 
Maintain Standards Documentation and Resources

Support operational needs by updating standards documentation, managing version control, and maintaining internal resources to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
 
Develop Presentations and Educational Materials

Prepare reports, presentations, and learning materials to support industry engagement and communicate standards-related concepts and outcomes.
 
Collaborate Across Teams 

Work closely with colleagues across Innovation, Industry Engagement, and Strategic Programs to support research, align initiatives, and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
