In this role, your goals will be:

In three months:

  1. Gain an in-depth understanding of the Digital landscape, be trained on the various Essence platforms and tools and have an understanding of how we operate.
  2. Work with Client Engagement to maintain an accurate view of client demand and resource needs.
  3. Work with Resource Management to develop resource strategies to optimize financial performance, to deliver work on time and to meet client expectations
  4. Incorporate and recommend other aspects of the business including audience planning and insights as part of the overall campaign strategy and execution.
  5. Develop relationships and earn trust with your own team as well as with client engagement & analytics teams.

In six months:

  1. Mentor, guide and lead your team both from a day-to-day aspect as well as from a talent development perspective.
  2. Approach planning from a strategic perspective and incorporate test and learn initiatives and knowledge shared with the wider planning team.

In 12 months:

  1. Develop and identify gaps/processes/tools to improve campaign performance and efficiency.
  2. Identify gaps and opportunities areas for your market and support them to maintain their edge and always stay ahead in the emerging media space within their local markets
  3. Develop your team and their talents - identify opportunity areas for them to grow


Essence, part of GroupM, is a global data and measurement-driven media agency whose mission is to make brands more valuable to the world. Clients include Google, Flipkart, Airtel, L’Oréal and the Financial Times among others. 

We are looking for a Client Partner for one of our biggest clients in the technology domain. This is the top client across Essence, GroupM and WPP. Essence manages an integrated mandate for the client in India.

Leading a high caliber team; high influence, limited authority: This is perhaps one of the brightest and smartest teams in the ecosystem whose trust and respect will need to be earned. 

Leading the thinking on the business, quality of work - all our thinking, planning, campaigns are solving for a business problem / task / objective. It’s the client leader’s job to partner Google on the business task. The person should have the ability to zoom in and out as the need arises - zoom out to ensure the solution is aligned to the task at hand and zoom in enough to ensure quality of work and response.

Ability to create, oversee and ensure process and operational diligence - Google tasks us to the most stringent quality norms and standards and while we have experts who drive processes, ensuring we deliver to them and are always audit ready is required from the person managing the business.

Ability to inspire beyond business as usual - Driving innovation, experience, creative thinking is an art - it requires both left and right brained thinking, and involves understanding the business and media to be able to create a perfect symphony.

Some of the things we’d like you to do:


  1. Own and maintain relationship with senior stakeholders at Client side, Essence (local, regional and global) and with GroupM
  2. Ensure client expectations are being set and met for every campaign and are clearly defined
  3. Manage client satisfaction throughout the campaign lifecycle and beyond, ensuring issues and challenges are actively identified and mitigated
  4. Manage commercials of account(s), including staffing / scope and financials
  5. Oversee project management support during the campaign lifecycle to ensure on time completion of deliverables, coordinate across practices, identify potential risks and issues
  6. Build strong ties with leads across disciplines to produce successful campaigns, maintaining high levels of communication throughout campaign lifecycle
  7. Interrogate work before client delivery to ensure it meets the brief and expectations
  8. Global coordination by facilitating knowledge and context sharing across Essence regions
  9. Develop strategic relationships with key agency partners and be a point of escalation
  10. Assist in deployment of Client Service practice trainings while ensuring best practices 
  11. Analyze information skillfully provided by team members to problem solve creatively, troubleshoot, and develop alternative solutions
  12. Line manage through coaching 1-3 direct reports to support career growth and development 
  13. Provide timely and actionable feedback to the team to aid in their development and progress
  14. Other duties may be assigned as needed
