Purpose of Position

Marketplace is the engine room of MediaCom, it’s where the rubber hits the road. Strategy and planning evolve into connected systems, brought to life through data driven strategies, exciting media partnerships and KPI smashing tactics.

The digital Marketplace team is responsible for leading the digital activation and investment function across all areas of their client portfolio. The digital director is ultimately responsible for the workflow, talent development and quality control in their team.

With 7+ years of digital media planning and investment experience, either at agency or sales side, you will have the ability to craft broad reaching investment strategies and drive a culture of investment excellence resulting in positive results for our clients, our media partners and MediaCom’s commercial objectives.

This is a critical role for MediaCom and as such you will drive the integration of the marketplace teams into other functions of the agency, find entrepreneurial opportunities to grow the investment capabilities within the agency & advocating it within the agency and client’s business.

On any given day, you might

  • Ensure and oversees workflow in the team is managed
  • Collaborate to share status, learnings, issues, solutions, and opportunities
  • Update business leads, SBUs, and department leads on team workflow, pressures, and needs
  • Develop strong media and platform partner relationships – not just with sales teams but also across content, technology and revenue departments
  • Engage with our media partners to ensure you and your team remains on the front foot with latest intel, content and innovation in the markets across all media touchpoints
  • Provide insightful, detailed and timely briefs and feedback to our media partners
  • Oversee the Marketplace function within your team across all touchpoints, ensuring maximum value is delivered consistently for our clients
  • Develop and maintain high quality and efficient operational performance and investment procedures
  • Identify, interpret and present market trends
  • Ensure team are delivering timely and accurate reports across the key KPI metrics
  • Ensure delivery of client audit and investment KPIs. Work with client teams, Head of Digital, Head of Marketplace and CIO to dissect results and build strategies.
  • Build and maintain close client relationships through best in class servicing and improve TRR scores
  • Responsible for the overall delivery of client investment
  • Identify commercial opportunities with the ability to sell in media initiatives over and above media recommendations
  • You understand all the value and commercial leavers MediaCom and GroupM offer, you develop the best strategy to deliver commercial benefit and client success

The Ideal Person

  • Extensive experience in media planning and truly understanding the relationship between channels
  • In-depth knowledge of digital media channels and tools
  • Highly level of energy that helps cultivate a positive social and high performing culture
  • Can adapt knowledge to solve business problems
  • Experience leading a team and embedding a values based culture
  • Collaborative and astute - able to build trust and respect within a network
  • High emotional intelligence and awareness and therefore able to manage self and others in a constructive manner

  • Exceptional, up to date, media landscape knowledge
  • A desire to lead rather than manage, with the ability to switch between the two depending on the situation
