Overview of job

GroupM is the leading global media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a Trading Systems Associate Director to join us.

The primary role is to bridge the gap between IT and the business using a mix of technical and data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements and deliver suitable recommendations and report to stakeholders.

Reporting of the role

This role is based in Shanghai and reports to the Technology Business Partner, China and dotted-line reports to Data Platforms Programme Director, Global Investment Systems.

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:

  • You would have been up to speed with what our existing solutions can offer and articulate well to all stakeholders.
  • You would have had a good grasp on our technology landscape at both conceptual and operational level.
  • You would have built good rapport with your peers and established effective and efficient engagement with stakeholders.

In six months:

  • You would have been able to understand technology solutions in a more intimate levels so that you can provide opinions and engage a deeper conversation with global, regional and local delivery and architecture teams.

In 12 months:

  • You would have been able to propose strategic directions in overall delivery management with global, regional and local delivery teams.
  • You would have been able to assist in roadmap planning with business partners.

What your day job looks like at GroupM:

  • Create detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities and solutions to solve business problems.
  • Build business cases and obtain approvals for any proposed solutions
  • Deliver good quality IT solutions that meet business users needs and comply with regional and global technology standards.
  • Manage delivery according to agreed scope, schedule, budget and resources.
  • Provide on-going maintenance and support solutions and applications in production.
  • Support roll-out and deployment of solutions developed by global, regional, local teams.
  • Establish and maintain GroupM’s core development processes (Agile based) as well as coordination of the process, from receipt of user stories through to successful completion of user acceptance testing.
  • Track and report projects status to all stakeholders on an agreed regular basis.

Minimum qualifications:

Generic skills requirements

  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong analytic skills, excellent communication & stakeholder relationship management skills
  • Ability to question and challenge at all levels with confidence, in order to arrive at a clear, unambiguous view of requirements
  • Quality and business-value focused
  • Self-starter, highly disciplined with positive and proactive attitude
  • Possess a good eye for details
  • Good written and oral English as daily communication with regional and global teams which reside out of China is essential

Position-specific requirements

Essential

  • 8 to 10 years of full SDLC project delivery experience
  • Strong knowledge on how data integration and interfaces between multiple systems work
  • Knowledge on agile project methodology
  • Ability to write moderately complex SQL query statements for data analysis
  • Well versed in data warehousing concepts and issues

Desirable

  • Experience in media or advertising industry
  • Experience working with enterprise BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI
  • Knowledge on data modelling – relationship and dimensional
  • Automated testing experience
  • MNC experience
