Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleans building floors by sweeping and mopping. Strips, seals, finish, and polish floors.
  • Gathers and empties trash.
  • Services, cleans, and provides supplies to restrooms.
  • Cleans walls, windows, glass partitions, mirrors, vents, fans and some ducts using appropriate tools.
  • Cleans, dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures and any other equipment.
  • Vacuums, steam-cleans or shampoos carpets.
  • Cleans and restores building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water.
  • Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prepare cleaning solutions and prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Moves heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
  • Mows and trim lawns and shrubbery, using mowers and hand and power trimmers, and clear debris from property grounds.
  • Notifies managers of need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Removes snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using appropriate tools such as snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
  • Requires supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Sets up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
  • Takes on other responsibilities as assigned.

 

What You Bring:

  • 1 year of janitorial experience or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings is an asset
  • Knowledge of WHIMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
  • General knowledge of cleanliness and sanitation
  • General computer skills such as using MS Office and internet
