Senior Inventory Accountant
Description
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for inventory accounts, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory records, including monitoring inventory levels, reconciling discrepancies, and conducting regular audits.
- Provide support for external audits, including preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and procurement, to ensure accurate recording of inventory transactions.
- Prepare daily and monthly account analysis to ensure accuracy of business transactions occurring in general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations monthly to ensure accurate completion, and compliance with US GAAP.
- Review inventory procedures to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
- Assist in the implementation of new inventory management systems or processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls related to inventory and inventory accounting.
- Perform SOX controls as assigned on monthly and quarterly cadences to ensure 404 compliance
- Stay informed about industry trends and regulations related to inventory accounting and recommend process improvements as necessary.
- Assist the Inventory Accounting Manager, or other Accounting leaders, with various ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed
- Minimum of three years of experience in Accounting is required; retail accounting experience is strongly preferred, and inventory accounting experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university in business, accounting or related field is required
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles.
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills.
- Proficient organizational and time management skills to independently prioritize multiple tasks and bring projects to completion in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and exceptional analytical skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the other MS Office Suite.
- Experience with using Tableau and creating reports preferred.
- Microsoft NAV/ERP experience preferred.
