The Director, Brand Experience & Events for Funko is responsible for driving best-in-class strategy, innovation, and execution across the brand’s global events and fan-facing activations. This role plays a critical part in scaling experiential as a core growth driver for Funko—connecting fan engagement to measurable business outcomes including revenue, and global brand equity. The director will translate brand, product, and business objectives into immersive, culturally-relevant experiences—from major tentpole conventions like Comic-Con to retail pop-ups, fan events, and live brand moments. This role will create impactful experiences that deepen fan engagement, attract new audiences, and ultimately drive demand and conversion across priority product lines.
 
Through a combination of strategic vision, operational excellence, and strong team leadership, the Director will shape how Funko shows up in the real world—bringing our brands, licenses, and fandoms to life in ways that are memorable, scalable, and uniquely Funko. This role requires a leader who excels at driving clarity, ensuring accountability, and delivering results through others—balancing big-picture thinking with disciplined execution.
 
The ideal candidate is a seasoned experiential leader with deep expertise in large-scale event production and culturally relevant activations. They are highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in driving progress—able to manage multiple complex workstreams while ensuring quality standards. They bring a strong sense of ownership, consistently following through on commitments and holding teams and partners accountable to timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
 
A strong collaborator and people leader, the Director will develop and own annual experience and events strategies, define success metrics, and align cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class experiences. They will oversee the full lifecycle of events—concept through execution and post-event analysis—while building and leading a high-performing team responsible for day-to-day delivery.

What You’ll Do
 
  • Develop and own global brand experience and events strategies that drive fan engagement, brand awareness, and commercial impact 
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of event and experiential professionals, setting clear priorities, roles, and expectations to ensure strong execution 
  • Drive accountability across internal teams and external partners, ensuring consistent follow-through on deliverables, timelines, and budgets 
  • Establish and implement scalable processes, tools, and ways of working to improve organization, communication, and efficiency across all events and activations 
  • Serve as the organizational lead for events and activations, creating clarity and alignment across stakeholders and ensuring seamless execution across multiple parallel workstreams 
  • Lead the planning and execution of tentpole events (e.g., Comic-Con) as well as owned and partner activations, including pop-ups, retail experiences, and fan events 
  • Translate brand and product priorities into immersive, fan-first experiences that are culturally relevant and socially shareable 
  • Partner cross-functionally with Integrated Marketing, PR, Licensing, Product Marketing, Creative, Sales, and Retail teams to ensure cohesive and impactful execution 
  • Own event budgets, contracts and external relationships, and oversee, timelines, vendor selection, and production logistics, ensuring operational excellence and strong financial management 
  • Establish clear measurement frameworks, including KPIs tied to engagement, reach, traffic, and sales; deliver post-event reporting and actionable insights 
  • Identify and implement innovative experiential trends, technologies, and formats to evolve Funko’s brand experience strategy 
  • Manage external partners including agencies, production vendors, fabricators, and event organizers 

What You’ll Bring

  • 8–10+ years of experience in experiential, events, or brand activations, preferably within a consumer brand or entertainment/pop culture environment 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Event Management, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams, with a track record of delivering results through others in complex, fast-paced environments 
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple large-scale initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated strength in driving follow-through, accountability, and operational discipline across teams and partners 
  • Proven expertise in developing and executing large-scale events (e.g., conventions, trade shows, festivals) and innovative pop-up or retail activations 
  • Strong understanding of fan culture and the intersection of entertainment, collectibles, gaming, film/TV, and broader pop culture 
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate insights into compelling, results-driven experiential programs 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to clearly articulate plans, drive alignment, and influence stakeholders at all levels 
  • Experience managing agencies, vendors, and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality outcomes on time and on budget 
  • Data-driven approach with the ability to measure success and continuously optimize through insights and learnings 
  • Passion for creating memorable, culturally relevant experiences that resonate with fans 
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where prioritization, adaptability, and executional excellence are critical
Salary Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $121,500 - $151,500 annually.Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

This position is based in Everett HQ/Seattle.
