Compliance Manager, Testing
What Defines an AFF Compliance Manager, Testing:
The Compliance Manager, Testing plays a vital role in executing independent compliance testing and identifying risks to ensure adherence to consumer protection laws, regulatory requirements, and company policies. This position supports the development of a robust compliance testing team focused on uncovering and reporting consumer credit risks. Responsibilities include managing all phases of the testing lifecycle—planning, scripting, scoping, execution, and reporting—while maintaining thorough documentation of findings, root cause analyses, and recommended corrective actions. The role also involves monitoring and validating policies, procedures, controls, and processes, and ensuring timely communication with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently conduct all phases of compliance testing to ensure alignment with policies and consumer protection regulations
  • Deliver detailed, objective analysis supported by high-quality documentation and test reports
  • Evaluate processes and controls, identify risks, and recommend improvements based on legal and regulatory standards
  • Mentor and support junior compliance team members to foster a strong, collaborative testing environment
  • Maintain expertise in consumer lending, credit, financing, and leasing regulations (state and federal)
  • Assess control design and effectiveness in mitigating compliance risks
  • Build relationships across business units to understand operations and address control weaknesses
  • Communicate testing scope, methodology, results, and recommendations to business leaders and stakeholders
  • Assist with internal and external audits and regulatory examinations
  • Support the Testing and Monitoring Compliance Director with additional tasks as needed

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in consumer regulatory compliance, internal audit, testing, or risk management
  • Bachelor’s degree (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state consumer compliance laws (e.g., TILA, FCRA, SCRA, MLA, TCPA, UDAAP)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • SQL experience is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Interest in technology and consumer finance, including servicing FDIC-insured bank loans, RISAs, and Lease-to-Own products
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and explain complex regulations clearly
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Skills:
  • Ability to build SQL reports and queries
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
