MedThink, a Fingerpaint Group company, offers extensive medical communications through two distinct divisions: MedThink SciCom, which harnesses deep scientific knowledge and extensive industry experience to develop solutions for medical affairs, medical communications and publication groups, and MedThink Communications, which provides healthcare communications and marketing services to commercial teams that leverages performance-driven medical education to enhance HCP beliefs and understanding.

Objectives of this role:
The Account Director functions as a principal agency representative to client middle/senior levels of management and the strategic lead for multiple pieces of medical education business.
The Account Director is responsible for ongoing client satisfaction and developing additional business opportunities through building and maintaining strong client relationships. The Account Director provides overall direction for the account team and drives business within the team to meet or exceed the forecasted client business. This position is responsible for providing direct-line management to all personnel within a designated client service team.
The chosen candidate will have displayed an acumen for understanding a variety of disease states and translating that understanding to medical education project execution. The expectation is that the Account Director is experienced in leading medical education work, but also capable of leading occasional work that is more promotional in nature.

- Websites: disease state and/or branded
- Sales rep-delivered print and digital sales aids
- Nonpersonal promotion: banner ads, advertorials, print ads, emails
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify communication strategies that will help achieve client goals and objectives
- Lead the development of strategic communication plans and execution of projects
- Develop and present new proposals to clients
- Determine the needs of the account group to best service the client
- Oversee the budgeting process
- Works with Project Management and other departments to ensure that the resources of the agency, department by department, are deployed with continued maximum effectiveness in line with the client’s best interest
- Collaborate with Director, Account Services and Managing Director to prepare annual client fee budget and ensure that budgets are updated as necessary
- Demonstrates ability to accurately develop and manage forecasts, updating with increasing accuracy throughout the year
- Responsible for income and profitability of a book of business
- Initiate and attend strategic planning meetings
- Take responsibility for the income and profitability of account
- Control costs, such as account-handling expenses, write-offs, and other concessions, in account services
- Identify opportunities with clients to expand agency business within and across departments
- Identify areas of potential weakness within the agency and work with team directors to find solutions
- Manage, develop, and train account team members and is instrumental in maintaining staffing efficiencies, including utilization levels
- Ensure that the account team adheres to agency and client processes
- Works with other team directors to ensure a consistent approach across all teams
- Review and approve client/brand backgrounders for new clients prior to project kickoff meetings
- Review and approve creative briefs
- Ensure that creative and strategic output is on strategy, on message, and exceeds the client’s expectations
Job Requirements:
Experience:
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical marketing and agency experience, a subset of which has been spent managing direct reports
- Experience leading medical education business
- Strong scientific acumen and experience, actively guiding the development of medical educational content
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful track record of delivering marketing programs that are the aligned with a strategic marketing plan
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical/healthcare and agency industry
- Thorough understanding of marketing, communications planning, and branding
- Thorough knowledge of all marketing channels and an understanding of how they work in conjunction with each other to drive behavior
- Proven leadership ability and track record of earning respect of peers and colleagues
