This is a hybrid position based out of Feeding America’s Washington DC office location. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day “work anywhere” program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.

The Opportunity
Salary Range: $88,740 - $93,740 Based on Experience.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development of resources for lawmakers that are utilized by the Government Relations team, network members, Feeding America leadership, external organizations and policymakers – with a focus on SNAP, TEFAP and other commodities, Food is Medicine, child nutrition and other issue areas as assigned that support policy solutions to ending hunger.
- Establish and streamline systems to house Feeding America resources and work with the Policy and Advocacy teams to regularly update Government Relations resources and post resources to internal platforms like Hungernet.
- Establish and operationalize a process for providing regular reports on hill engagement for the department in Quorum.
- Provide support in collecting grant deliverables, key department reporting measures and other deliverables as assigned to support the Government Relations department.
- Supports the department leadership and the broader Government Affairs team across our annual appropriations work, authorizing campaigns, network fly-in’s, and other priorities in close collaboration with Government Relations managers.
- Support the Government Relations and Policy teams to develop, implement and reassess policy priorities and policy initiatives to advance Feeding America’s agenda.
- Monitor emerging news, federal policies and legislation affecting the Feeding America network of food banks, other emergency food providers, and people facing hunger increase food, funds, and resources.
- Attend hearings, markups, partner meetings, and other essential information sessions to provide hearing report outs and after-action reviews to the Government Affairs team.
- Draft newsletter articles and powerpoint slides about important updates for our weekly Government Relations newsletter, monthly network webinars, and provide technical support for hill briefings and external webinars.
Required Competencies, Experience and Certifications:

- Basic knowledge or familiarity with Capitol Hill and the legislative process
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications to a variety of audiences

- Experience with MS Office applications, Quorum, Tableau, Canva and other legislative tracking platforms preferred
