The Opportunity

Everyday Health Professional is looking for a Senior Director, Solutions Lab within our sales team to oversee key account sales strategy and management of our current product portfolio for our pharmaceutical clients.  The Senior Director serves as an expert on both the healthcare and digital media industry with a focus on leveraging market and audience insights to help develop strategic account roadmaps aimed at building a strong ongoing value proposition to support the needs of Everyday Health Professional clients.  They are responsible for working cross-functionally to create/optimize our overall account strategy in conjunction with the wider Market Value & Impact team, as well as the New Product Development & Planning teams.  

The Senior Director will serve as the product portfolio subject matter expert and will be responsible for ensuring market effectiveness of these products including development of product messaging and sales tools, field sales training, field support for client presentations, and ongoing product performance assessment and optimization recommendations.  They must have the ability to understand our clients’ marketing goals and then position our product solutions to meet each clients’ unique needs.  The platforms employed will include but are not limited to native advertising, interactive learning products, digital media campaigns, email campaigns, and other tactics aimed at increasing physician awareness and utilization of specific pharmaceutical brands.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring EDH Pro Solutions Lab initiatives are aligned to company goals and objectives and effectively working in concert with cross-functional partners in pursuit of those goals. 
    • Leads development of effective strategic account & product roadmaps for EDH Pro media business to include product/campaign strategic direction, product ideation/advocacy, audience analysis, proposal response/operations -  aimed at enabling sales team members to generate/grow revenue
    • Enhanced focus on building strategic business plan(s) designed to make in-roads with new accounts, while supporting Solutions Lab team members with strategic direction on established book of business  
  • Provides team/company-wide view of Solutions Lab activity - with focus on revenue, product support, and team performance 
    • Motivates and mobilizes cross-functional resources to meet the needs of customer facing business
    • Builds and mentors Solutions Lab team members; motivates, values, recognizes & rewards team members to achieve desired results, both individually and as a team; focus on building bench strength across the team
  • Leads new product development commercialization phase in partnership with Sales Planning lead with a focus on overall campaign configuration in support of optimizing each product’s P & L
  • Leads Solutions Lab in development of product toolkit understanding and and strategic position (including development of supporting sales materials, value proposition, training and roll-out to field sales team):
    • Maintains in-depth knowledge of product portfolio value proposition, pricing, and data/insights capabilities
    • Develops relationships and collaborates closely with key internal departments in sales planning, marketing/delivery, editorial and product management
    • Overall ownership of product messaging and field communication/sales tools including field training
    • Provides strategic field leadership in client presentations: develops and customizes insightful and engaging sales presentations and proposals that communicate knowledge of our customers and the value of our solutions
    • Provides Solutions Lab direction/leadership on RFP proposal responses as required by sales organization 
    • Oversees team status reports and provides sales analysis including YOY tracking, close rates and account market research as needed (by product, account, sales rep, etc) 
  • Ongoing product optimization:
    • Identifies market gaps based on client and field conversations and collaborates with Senior Director, Innovation and New Product Marketing & Senior Direct, Sales Planning & Operations for creating/implementing optimization roadmap 


Job Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in healthcare digital promotion with emphasis on the healthcare professional audience
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical brand marketing plans, objectives, and success metrics and applications to HCP mindsets and needs by specialty and care setting
  • Deep understanding of digital content, marketing platforms/delivery systems and their business models
  • Proven ability to rapidly assimilate multi-faceted data and information sets to effectively develop strategic and tactical plans that are consistent with sales team objectives
  • Envisions long-term growth opportunities and is able to identify the top key factors driving product and campaign performance; ability to build key concepts and trends into a strategic vision for our approach to sales strategy with an external focus on gaining a competitive advantage 
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking demonstrated by the ability to effectively identify patterns or key concepts in disparate information, trends and discrepancies, and in ability to pull together ideas/issues and data into a concise story
  • Ability to overcome obstacles to delivering on client objectives, effectively balancing the needs of the client with internal business objectives 
  • Strives to constantly drive deeper market and audience understanding, applying knowledge to all product strategies and vehicles; able to help build market/audience knowledge intimacy across all functions
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work independently – self-motivated, knowledgeable and passionate for success
  • Is respected as a leader in strategic planning & product development within the healthcare digital media industry
  • Effective team manager with ability to hold people accountable for results; creates clear plans to meet and exceed goals; skilled at providing timely, specific & constructive feedback to both direct reports and cross-functional partners; promotes teamwork across organization
  • Creates clear plans to meet and exceed goals in product performance and client growth in conjunction with sales team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including high level proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, high energy, sense of humor.
  • Willingness to travel as needed
