Wage Range: $24.91 - $39.85 per hour
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary:
Responsible for ensuring all Radiation Oncology charge entry, coding, and reimbursement activities, including. monitoring and obtaining patient financial information and authorizations to ensure account collectability for both the Professional and Technical/Facility services. Routinely reviews local, State and Federal requirements for radiation billing and educates staff to most accurate procedures. Provides on-going communications with staff, payors, patients and family, and the Patient Financial Services department to ensure payments are received for services rendered.

Primary Duties
1. Verifies insurance and obtains required authorizations timely as not to delay patient care.
2. Provides patient/family counseling and information regarding cost of services, co-pays, covered services and financial responsibility, and assist with referrals to eligible resources for financial assistance.
3. Serves as a liaison between patient accounting and clinical operations to resolve claim denials and support re-submission.
4. Accurately reviews charges, coding and supporting documentation before entry into the information system that produces billing. Makes appropriate changes and educates personnel on the appropriate utilization of codes and documentation.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
● 2 years of recent customer-oriented experience in a hospital and/or physician practice office with a working knowledge of registration, insurance verification and/or medical billing.
● Demonstrate knowledgeable in determining third-party insurance medical benefits and billing requirements.
● Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding rules and reporting requirements.
● Strong knowledge of medical terminology
● Must be self-directed and able to prioritize
● Evidence of computer skills i.e. computer billing systems
