Wage Range: $23.82 - $38.10 per hour

Hybrid Remote in Washington State only

Job Summary:
Responsible for generating and submitting medical claims to insurance companies for services provided to patients within the hospital setting.  This position will partner with hospital departments ensuring accurate coding and billing practices to maximize reimbursement, while adhering to all health care regulations.   Understanding of the different payer billing requirements and regulations, in accordance with CMS guidelines is needed.  Proficiency with medical terms, UB04 claim fields, billing, ICD-10 and CPTs codes required. Must be able to easily adapt between different duties within billing team on a daily basis to fit the needs of the department.
 
Primary Duties:
1. Billing regulations and requirements specific to payer
2.Initiates proactive measures that result in account resolution.
3. Responds timely and accurately to all incoming correspondence and inquiries from insurance companies, and other appropriate parties.
4. Initiates contact with insurance or patients as necessary.
5. Initiates recommendations and action plans for resolving accounts.
6. Responds to all phone calls in an efficient and courteous manner.
7. Writes appropriate notes in system for every account, including any action taken.
8. Reviews payer remittances or EOB's to ensure that appropriate steps are taken in resolving accounts.
9. Proper follow up and systems actions as required per company guidelines.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:
•High school graduate or equivalent
•2 years of directly-related billing experience in a healthcare environment
•Knowledge of medical terminology.
•Ability to type 50 WPM with a high degree of accuracy, plus 10-key
•Must be bondable.

DESIRED for the position:
•Associate's degree in accounting, finance or business
•Hospital billing or patient financial services experience
