Wage Range: $27.85 - $42.82 per hour
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary
Responsible for preparing and assembling medical and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and equipment, maintaining the sterile processing areas and receiving and distributing surgical supplies and equipment. Performs advanced duties in all areas of the Central Sterilizing & Processing Department. Functions as a subject matter expert in multiple specialties.
Primary Duties
- Supplies all departments of the Hospital with items needed from Central Sterilizing & Processing while maintaining good interpersonal relationships. Delivers supplies and equipment upon request rapidly and in a timely manner.
- Prepares supplies, trays and instrument sets for sterilization and/or decontamination for use throughout the hospital and clinics.
- Prepares specialty supplies, trays and instrument sets for sterilization and/or decontamination for multiple specialties.
- Supports surgical suites as a resource. Anticipates the needs of the OR and coordinates surgical needs between SPD and OR.
- Coordinates loaners with vendors.
- Serves as subject matter expert in assigned specialties.
- Prioritizes the work flow utilizing the OR schedule board or hard copy of the schedule for surgery and cath lab.
- Trains team members.
- Knows and practices principles of aseptic technique.
- Knows operation of all equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience
REQUIRED for the position:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Maintain Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) national certification through IAHCSMM
- Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) Certification
- 2 years total experience in SPD Functions independently and proficiently in multiple specialties
- Subject matter expert in multiple specialties
- Ability to train team members
- Ability to work proficiently without direct supervision
- Familiar with all Job Duties and Accountabilities/Competencies of the Lead Role
- Performs the following duties independently: EndoScopes/HLD, Plastic Specialty Instruments, Lap Specialty Instruments, Robotic sets, Urology Specialty Instruments, ENT Specialty Instruments, Neuro/Spine/Ortho Specialty and Basic Sets, Vascular Specialty Instruments
- Must be able to operate: Steam sterilizer, Sterrad sterilizer 100S and 100NX, Washer/disinfectors, Pasteurizer/drying cabinet, Cart washer, Ultrasonic cleaners (various types and models), Flexible Scope Disinfector, Robotic Ultrasonic Cleaner, Heat Sealer, Demagnetizer, Insulation Tester
DESIRED for the position:
- 1 year of surgical scrub experience
