We have multiple internship opportunities, with one intern supporting each of the following areas:
- FP&A & General Accounting
- Rates & Regulatory Finance
- Capital Finance
This full‑time, paid summer internship offers exposure to financial analysis, regulatory compliance, project accounting, and data reporting in a real‑world utility environment. You’ll work on meaningful projects, build technical skills, and contribute to work that supports safe, reliable, and affordable utility services.
Internship Dates: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026
What you’d be responsible for
FPA & General Accounting
- Support the Finance Managers with budgeting, planning, and accounting activities
- Assist with reviewing voided customer checks, identifying outstanding balances, and helping determine eligibility for unclaimed property reclassification
- Contribute to analysis of operating cost drivers such as power, chemicals, and water production volumes
- Help refine and consolidate reporting processes related to Greenhouse Gas (GHG), Non‑Revenue Water (NRW), and Beneficial Reuse
- Assist with developing and updating Power BI reports and dashboards
Rates & Regulatory Finance
- Support the Regulatory Finance Manager and Accountant with maintaining regulatory accounts
- Assist with processing monthly journal entries and preparing regulatory account reconciliations
- Help prepare responses for rate applications and regulatory filings
- Support the development of a Rate Case Data Request database
- Assist with building and maintaining a GAAP data repository
- Help track revenue and expense rate adjustors for reporting and compliance
- Assist with organizing regulatory asset and liability documentation
Capital Finance
- Assist with developing project tracking tools to support capital project delivery
- Support historical data cleanup efforts to improve data quality
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports to enhance project reporting
- Assist with other capital accounting tasks as assigned
What’s required to be successful
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post‑secondary program in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Ability to work full‑time (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday, for the duration of the internship
- Basic understanding of financial concepts such as analysis, budgeting, capital planning, regulatory finance, or cost recovery (coursework is sufficient)
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Interest in learning new tools such as Power BI, Oracle systems, and financial databases
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and communicate clearly
- Professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn new skills in a fast‑paced environment
