EPCOR’s Water Services group (EWS) is excited to announce a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Maintenance Electrical Reliability Manager. This position is part of the WWTP team and is based at the Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant in Edmonton, Alberta.

As the WWTP Maintenance Electrical Reliability Manager, you will lead the Electrical Reliability Maintenance Team in:
- Developing and implementing asset reliability plans.
- Executing process asset maintenance activities.
- Providing input into the design, construction, and commissioning of capital projects at the Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant and its associated facilities.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
Reporting to the WWTP Maintenance Senior Manager, you will lead the Electrical Reliability Maintenance Team and be accountable for the following key areas:
Planning and Strategy
- Contribute to the development of the WWTP Operational Plan and annual objectives.
- Anticipate challenges and identify the resources, budget, and staffing required to deliver the annual work plan.
- Ensure alignment between team activities and Water Services’ maintenance strategies.
Operational Excellence
- Execute the annual work plan, monitor performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure adherence to established processes, procedures, and standards while implementing enhancements for efficiency and service delivery.
- Adapt to shifting priorities and resolve operational roadblocks to maintain safe and effective operations.
Team Leadership
- Build and lead a capable, high-performing team by setting clear objectives and holding members accountable for results and behaviors.
- Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and professional development.
Maintenance and Reliability
- Oversee maintenance of WWTP, lagoons, and biosolid assets, ensuring timely repairs and optimal equipment utilization.
- Optimize maintenance practices and costs while supporting plant performance and project targets.
- Develop and implement a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) program, expanding predictive and preventative maintenance efforts and introducing new technologies.
Collaboration and Technical Support
- Partner with internal teams to resolve technical issues and support decision-making.
- Coordinate shutdowns and isolations between Operations and Maintenance.
- Work with Supply Chain to maintain cost-effective spare parts and purchasing practices.
- Align with Asset Management and other operational areas to share and implement best practices.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Mitigate operational risks, maintain site security, and promote a strong safety culture.
- Investigate incidents, communicate lessons learned, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) to support ISO certification.
Capital and Project Support
- Provide input into capital planning, resource planning, and asset management strategies.
- Support project delivery through participation in design reviews, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
What’s required to be successful
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Candidates without a degree may be considered if they hold a Technical Diploma or Trade Certification combined with significant, relevant experience in the wastewater industry. - Minimum 5 years of experience managing large groups of unionized staff.
- At least 3 years of experience in asset management, maintenance, and capital construction.
- Demonstrated experience with asset management and maintenance planning, including the use of IVARA and other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with asset management terminology, best practices, and ISO 55000 standards.
- Strong business acumen and ability to apply strategic thinking to operational decisions.
Preferred Assets
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a large water utility environment, such as the Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- First-hand knowledge of electrical systems at the Gold Bar WWTP.

- Reliability and Asset Management – Drive reliability-centered maintenance strategies and optimize asset lifecycle through predictive technologies, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.

This is a professional level position and that typically works Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)
